I don't have that problem myself**, though I think quite a lot of people with AF do. I'm pretty sure that there have been messages about it before and that others have recommended sleeping with a number of pillows so that you are propped up and not flat.

** Like others here I find it's better not to sleep on my left side.

Sleep in recliner always seems to work better.

Yes I couldn't sleep on my back or my left side. I always slept on my right, or at least to start with. Think that's very common with people on this forum.

Agree it is very common and indicates there maybe a vagal connection. Improve Vagal tone generally and mine went away, But I still have arrythmias at other times.

Interesting. How did you improve your vagal tone?

Vagal Tone - lots of different ways - personally I do cold showers, power breathing, square breathing techniques and daily Mindfulness.

Yes u might find this link interesting.

Also you may find this thread useful. If you search the forum and put in Vagal there are a lot of posts on this subject.

My EP confirmed that my current AF is vagal triggered by tachycardia Which nearly always starts after I have eaten a meal containing carbohydrates and then moved - I now have to stay sitting and rest for a good 30mins in rest&digest mode otherwise I’m in AF. Currently just finished dinner and I’m at 95 but I know it will drop if I do nothing within 30 mins if I am still.

Best wishes CD

Always sleep on my right. If I turn to left or lying flat during the night my heart flips waken me and I have to turn.

Propped up with pillows and mostly on my right side and sometimes back. Anything else gives me palpitations and sometimes AF.

Like many here I can't sleep on my left side or my back as it kicks me straight into AF within minutes. I have slept only on my right side for over 10 years. It's not a big problem but not great for marital togetherness...

Change sides of the bed?

in reply to Adiepie

Tried it, but then you can only face the centre of the bed. Oral hygeine becomes obsessive...

It's basically always facing in or always facing out!
