Can chocolate interact with warfarin
I've been taking warfarin for 14 years and yes i do indulge in chocolate occassionally😁 with no bad effects except perhaps the waistline.

The study found a slower clotting time and actual platelet suppression in the people who admitted eating chocolate. The safety of dark chocolate is relative. The potential increase in bleeding time suggests patients taking warfarin should have their INR checked more frequently when starting or stopping dark chocolate.
"Do not consider dark chocolate off limits, the benefits of dark chocolate are well documented and too few products we enjoy have cardio-protective properties. You should discuss any diet changes with your doctor."
PHEW!
Does this suggest chocolate could be a substitute for warfarin?? I'm up for that!!
No idea Ursula, but if you send the chocolate to me, I will conduct exhaustive testing on it and let you have the results.
Seriously, as with everything when you are on warfarin, dietary change is the problem, so if you ate it before warfarin eat it now.
Be well

Hi I eat quite a bit of chocolate I don't like to admit it but I expect I comfort eat chocolate after my meals i have a little chocolate as my dessert (excuse) My argument is your have to be consistent in what you eat so I eat chocolate regularly. So it don't afect my INR
