Providing you feel generally ok then certainly.

Presumably you are in permanent af?

The aim is usually to get your rate down below 100.

What's meds are you on?

If your rate persists at this , you should see your gp tomorrow with a view to increasing rate contrlling drugs

Hi Sue - Are you feeling any effects of your heart beating at that rate? If you are talking about just a stroll with someone else, I'd say yes, but if going out for a long ramble perhaps no. You may find you get tired very quickly with your heart beating so fast. Mine has been the same at times and when out walking I'd be fine for a while and then suddenly I couldn't go another step.

I sometimes go out with a group, but will only do their shorter and local walks because I'm afraid of feeling ill and spoiling the walk for everyone else.

Hope this helps.

Jean

When I was unmedicated post ablation a heart rate of 90-110 was about my normal "resting" which I realise now is a bit high and I generally come in at 68. As a result I wouldn't want to strain myself with the HR already that high, as at just 120 (and in AF) I get wiped out.

Having said that, I do love walking (done 2x6 mile hikes in the peaks the last 2 consecutive mondays) and it does take a while to get over the thought of "What if it flips out miles from anywhere"

60-100 is considered 'normal' heart rate.

You're saying your over 110.........caution is needed here......I suggest visit ED and get yourself checked out.

I can certainly add something here. I had one really great month following my first ablation then, all hell broke loose. I started getting persistent AF with rates up to 200bpm and they tried various methods to get me back into NSR. As a result, I ended up with a resting heart rate of 105 and I felt reasonably well. AF resulted in a rate of 136bpm but I to was concerned that a resting rate of 105 was not right. I had the second ablation within 3 weeks which returned my resting heart rate to 60. NSR since...2 years later. I continued working with the rate of 105 but the frequent AF bouts were a handicap.
