I used to get excruciatingly painful spasms, but now I know how to manage them, they are no longer the problem they once were. Drinking warm water and/or holding a hot water bottle to my chest as soon as I feel a spasm starting, normally stops it in it's tracks!

I was given nitroglycerin tablets for my spasms and 15mg morphine when really bad series of them.

I have been getting painful spasms for years. They were diagnosed as coronary artery spasms but now I know they are related to my achalasia. Keep learning more all the time. I drink soda water as soon as I feel one coming and it stops it in its tracks.
