Are your symptoms of depression worse... - Above & Beyond - ...
Are your symptoms of depression worse with the dark days of Autumn and Winter?
Please select all that apply:
only if the weather is really bad and your stuck indoors you dwell on it more.
To be honest I enjoy the bleakness and quiet that comes with winter, also that people don't expect you to go out as often! Also I much prefer to be cold and wrapped up than hot n sweaty! I do find the short sunlight hours quite oppressive sometimes especially when you work the entire day or (certainly in my case) sleep so late on your days off that there's barely any sunlight left by the time you get up! I actually find I'm more peaceful when it's cold and grey outside... Like I have permission to be melancholic I suppose! Lol sorry for the long comment! X
Some of my worst days have been in the heart of summer when most people are happier than normal. I question more deeply why I feel so bad because summer is supposed to be the best time of the year. Also, everyone expects you to go out a lot and have a holiday but I find I can't always do either.
Hi there darkshadow
Well, seems my theory of dark days was wrong.
I haven't heard of 'summer blues' but this may be associated with others expectation of you and you not wanting or feeling up to it, that it depresses you more.
Please don't think too deeply about this, I'm sure many others have very different patterns too, we do after all, have differing symptoms.
Take care
Chloe
I like the winter, warm snuggly clothes to wear and wellies to walk the dog.
I do not like long hot days of summer, not that we have many here in the uk. I am not a great lover of hot weather. The expectation is that we must go out and enjoy it. It's too hot, too bright, too sweaty. Give me a cooler cloudy day anytime.

I'm so surprised at the number of people who dislike hot weather, can't say I like it myself but I prefer that to the dark days, like we've had this week. Take care Hidden
