Low iron levels with a heart condition
Pre heart condition (pre 2021) my iron levels had always been really good (around 140 ug/L) but since then they've dropped massively (currently 32 ug/L). To make matters worse, I unfortunately had a bowel bleed in February 2023 resulting in need a blood transfusion. I was put on ferrous sulphate for

Possibly DNR chat
Evening, I’ve posted before but I have a separate question now. Tomorrow my mum will have been in ICU for 4 weeks. I went to visit this evening and was made aware that my mum’s named doctors want to have a chat with me tomorrow. The doctor who told me this was the duty doctor and said the named doctors

eliquis
hi everyone. I have always had a very sensitive system and been sensitive to medications. After not being able to tolerate the full dose of Eliquis with many side effects, I was put on a half dose. I am on week five of a half dose of Eliquis and I started getting very severe hip pain from an old injury

hair thinning
Hi all! I was diagnosed with AF in May and given Edoxaban and Flecainide. I have noticed my hair is shedding a lot and am thinking it could be the blood thinner. Has anyone else experienced this?

Cardiology apt. With HF doctor
Hi everyone I hope you’re all as well as can be expected. I had my cardiology apt today with my heart failure cardiologist. I took along my eldest daughter, well she drove me there and my blood pressure was high. We did have a laugh about it as my blood pressure is usually quite low. I was seen straight

Super useful ablation interview

Is there a dr at Ninewells who deals with APS?
In Dec 2020 I had what was thought to be a TIA. I mentioned to the stroke nurse that I had tested positive before for lupus anticoagulant and my rheumatologist at the time put me on aspirin. I was told to stop HRT in order to do this. It wasn’t checked again. The stroke nurse prescribed Clopidogrel

Could I stop taking Rivaoxaban?
I’ve been on Flecainide, Bisoprolol and Rivaoxaban now for 5 years and have a pacemaker, my heart is in sinus rhythm at 60bpm. I understand that Rivaoxaban is to help prevent blood clots forming, but as my AF is now managed could I stop taking it? I get frequent gum bleeds despite excellent oral hygiene

Patients Day 2023
Firstly big thank to all the team for putting on a great event and Tracy in particular knowing you have a funeral this week as well. I'm told that in due course all sessions will be available on line but I thought a quick over view of some bullet points might be appropriate. Do have a look when they

Acid Reflux
Hi, does anyone suffer with worsening symptoms of acid reflux because of blood thinners? I took Edoxaban which aggravated my stomach and now am trying apixaban. I have a hiatus hernia and was taking Lansoprazole 15mg. I have had to increase it to 30mg which is not helping. The doctor gave me Esomeprazole

stomach ulcer and blood thinners
hello all, has anyone got an ulcer from Edoxoban, I’ve had really bad stomach pains with sweating and the pain radiating to my back, I thought it was a heart attack at first as I know with women it can be felt in those areas, I was nearly sick as well, doctor recons it’s an ulcer from the Edoxoban.

Wobbly in the morning
Hi 👋,I have been feeling very lightheaded in the morning with extreme body weakness and get wobbly. I feel better after a while but this can take over an hour. I found it difficult to get off the train and also the large gap made it a bit hazardous in this state. I am not diabetic. I have af and take
