At a Dialysis Crossroads
I have to decide whether to get a fistula in my arm and go with hemodialysis, or go with peritoneal dialysis. I spent a couple of hours in a center talking to a couple of nurses about peritoneal dialysis and it sounds like a bad choice given its near constant presence in your life. With hemodialysis

Macular oedema and steroids
I have diabetic macular oedema and my opthamologist said today that although my eyes are not getting any worse my right eye maybe needs some laser. She said she thought it wasn’t the diabetes that was the problem, I am in remission with a hba1c of 37 but the steroids. Any thoughts on this please. My

Heart muscle not working properly
I had an angiogram Monday and the doctor yold me my heart muscle is not working properly. To my understanding this is heart failure. Am I correct? I have also been told to 'get fitter' and he will see me in 3 months. The problem is I had two knee replacements (one which went badly wrong the second

Tacrolimus?
Hi guys, Can anyone tell me if 14mg of tacrolimus everyday after 3 months post transplant is normal? I know from other consultants that I have slight rejection. I have 1 consultant who will not give me an answer to "what are my blood results". He says everything is fine and there is nothing to worry

Heart Failure Question
Hello I am looking for some perspective I think. My husband was not treated for his AF and high heart rate for four weeks until I managed to get him to ignore the GP and go to A& E, He was diagnosed with heart failure (35%) and is now on 8 different drugs. He had a follow up procedure booked (cardioversion

Heart failure question
Trying to learn . I don't have heart failure but know someone who has been told they are and have arrhythmia. What causes this? Could it be untreated thyroid would that be common?

Can I take Imedeen if taking Theroxine 50
I have been diagnosed with under active thyroid in 2015 and have been on Theroxine 50 ever since. Feeling good. Would like to start taking the Marine Complex, exclusive to IMEDEEN Skincare tablets. From sources across the web I found it contains: Grape seed extract, Zinc, Vitamin C, Lycopene, Vitamin

Hi is it normal to be switched from “acute kidney damage” to “renal failure” even when kidneys still function & lab work from clinic is good
Still urinating normal amount, nothing odd about it. Went over a week without dialysis when my chest catheter malfunctioned and had no ill side effects Labs seem to always be “good” news or at least that my numbers are within the clinic’s liking.

1 month out from RF ablation for asymptomatic afib
Hi. I was diagnosed with afib in late 2019 at age 66 and put on an anti-coag and sotalol. I was in and out of afib quite regularly but rarely symptomatic. Three cardioversions failed to restore normal sinus rhythm (NSR) for any real length of time, so ablations were suggested (I live in the US.) Since

Anyone’s gfr from their labs differ from gfr calculators?
My labs show a different gfr than what the calculators show. Is it bc there’s other blood related factors that get equated? Bc my creatinine has remained at 1.10 and bun 20 for over 10 years but over the years my blood labs show my gfr going from 96-70 in about 10 years. Note I didn’t get labs done
