Gabapentine
I have had RLS for many years. I am 85 years of age. My doctor prescribed Amitryptiline 10 mgs last year but I found that after a while it had no effect whatsoever. My doctor has now prescribed Gabapentine but on reading the leaflet with the package it has so many side effects that I 'm afraid to use

Probably more of a rant than asking for help, this is my first post. Recently I replied to a question by someone to have an ablation first or a hip replacement, my choice was to have my hip replaced first that has been taken out of my hands. As in the title they have found a new way to reduce the waiting

My story won't apply to everyone, of course, but you may find a nugget worth considering. I've had mild RLS intermittently for forty years until it recently worsened. I'd always managed it with weighted heat, L-Tryptophan, magnesium glycinate, L-Theanine, and if necessary, a little pacing. At age 36,

Hi, I am about to have a consultation assessment for a hip replacement and having already posted about my concern with having to stop my Flecainide (150mg x 2) pre-op and being scared of going into A.F. prior or during the op. -my other big problem is having used Otrivine type nasal decongestant sprays

Painful legs (burning sensation behind both knees)
Hi all Well, Iām hoping someone can provide a view on what is happening to me now! For the last couple of months I have had severe pain in the legs which has now started to become a burn behind my knees. It doesnāt improve or worsen on exercise and is particularly painful laying in bed. I used to

Insufficiency Fracture - likely cause - Prednisilone
I saw an orthopaedic Fracture surgeon last week following an MRI on my right knee to investigate knee pain. She reported a small meniscus tear and a small piece of detached cartilage. However she also reported an Insufficiency Fracture in the femur which she thinks may have been caused by Prednisolone

medication after open heart surgery
is there anyone on this site who has had a heart valve replacement and is now using biologic meds to control their ra? If so, Iād love to hear your experience. I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve which needed replacing in June (an event hastened by a toxic reaction to leflunomide). Iāve had an Inspiris

Knee replacement
I have had one knee replaced a few years ago and now have extreme pain, bone on bone, in the other knee. I asked my GP for a referral and he said to try injections as thereās a long waiting list! (Iāve tried these before and they only offered temporary and not much relief!) Can I insist on a referral

Hello everyone, first of all I have some good news. After my GP chased up my referral for a TKR at the hospital I have now had a consultation appointment for 26th February. Hopefully I can at least get on the waiting list this time. I have been resting my knee for the past month and have had a little

KNEE SURGERY
Hello all, just had a call from my Hospital informing me that my total knee replacement surgery is in 2 WEEKSAs I have Lymphoedema in both legs - left leg is worse. Surgery is on right knee. I have been told the leg will be tightly dressed from ankle to groin to try and avoid me having an ulcerated leg

Neuro Behcet's and surgery.
I'm being investigated for headaches which I have had for a couple of months. I'm having an MRI (brain) in a couple of days to see if anything shows up, then I will see the neurologist. If it turns out to be neuro Behcet's, as I have a diagnosis of Behcet's anyway, I'm wondering if it may affect my hip

hip replacement & taking Flecainide 150mg x 2
Hi everyone - I have been on Flecainide 150mg twice daily for nearly a year now (increased from 100mg x 2) and thus far the A.F episodes (17 in 2022) have ceased. My problem now is I am facing the prospect of hip replacement surgery & wonder if anyone else has experienced this and did they have to stop

Could my son have Ehlers-Danlos? Who to ask about diagnosis?
Hi everyone, I've joined the group today as I'm not sure if my son has hypermobile EDS and I'm not sure where to turn and what to do next. He has lots of niggly health issues which I'm starting to think might be EDS (or I could be adding 2+2=5). Since he was about 6 months old he has suffered horrendously
