Six years after diagnosis of Takayasu's Arteritis I seem to have gone through all the
immunosuppressants
(aza, mycophenolate, cyclo, MTX) all of which I've either not tolerated or haven't satisfactorily kept it under control.

Long term medication?
I have been on a number of different
immunosuppressants
over the years and either I haven't been able to tolerate them or they haven't controlled the disease progression.

Is Behcets related to the foods we eat?
I was diagnosed with Behcets about 3 years ago and I was prescribe a large dose of immunosuppressant's and steroids. Late last year (2013) I went for a food intolerance test. This test showed that I have an intolerance to diary and wheat. Since I cut both of these from my diet I have noticed a massive

Please say someone feels like I do....
Hi everyone, I'm asthmatic and always have been I seemed to grow out of it as a teen and since having my little boy two years ago it has come back. I was admitted to hospital in Feb 2013 for an exacerbation of asthma and to be honest never been 100% well since. In June I was re admitted for hospital

Rash on right arm.....it's shingles. Any advice welcome.
Does anyone have any experience of this when on steroids and
immunosuppressants
? The leaflet with the aciclovir is not very helpful and just gives warnings about seeing your doctor if your immune system is poor.

Prednisilone: 5mg per day = Good or Bad?
I do not take any
immunosuppressants
, apart from the Pred and haven't done for almost a year (on the advice of my consultant) because all of the
immunosuppressants
I've tried in the past I either cannot tolerate or they stop working for me.

Can I make a plea that all of us who are coeliac stop saying that we are allergic to or intolerant of gluten.
We have an autoimmune disease which we are lucky in that it can be controlled by diet alone. But if it is untreated or not treated well it has serious consequences not just in our gut but in our bones, vitamin levels, brain, blood etc. I think we sometimes are our own worst enemies because we underplay

Is most everyone with Behcet's on some type of an immunosuppressant long-term? What is your experience? Thanks
(One doctor wants me on azathioprine for two years to settle down my system and put things into remission hopefully and my "second opinion" doctor doesn't feel the need at this point.)

Those of you with AIH/PBC overlap ....
what have you ben told by specialists about the possible progression of disease? And, if you are on steroid and immunosuppressant treatment, did anyone explain why not urso? And how often do you get bloods checked once on stable dose of whatever? Just interested in anything relevant really as I've been

Vaccinations post-splenectomy
Hi, I would be very grateful for any links to ITP Support Association or NHS materials regarding vaccinations required post-splenectomy. I'm in-between immunosuppressant treatments and would like to get finally vaccinated. Many thanks

I feel badly that I'm earning "frequent flyer miles" so to speak with all my many recent questions, but if I may ask one more for now: Does
it seem rather extreme that my rheumatologist would pull me off Imuran and tell me I need to be off of 40mg. of prednisone in two weeks time as I've caught a virus accompanied by a fever? I expressed my concern that my uveitis might relapse, etc. but he says I won't get over my virus due to immunosuppression

Retention..
However I have had other explanations, it was either due to a urine infection (which i didn't test positive for enough, although I did have some white blood and protein in it) or they also thought it could be down to suppressed immune (im on 4
immunosuppressants
) or amitriptyline i was taking,the first

Do I or don't I, what do you think ?
Bit long winded but please bear with me. I fear I have lupus but any mention to docs is met with a raised eyebrow etc... ok,here goes. I get an unmistakable butterfly rash, joint pain usually feet ankles shin area and fingers, sometimes shoulders elbows. Fatigue and tiredness I feel mostly like I've

being a bowel transplant patient doesn't mean life can't go on
However as I am on heavy
immunosuppressants
the choice of medications available are very limiting. Why? Well because the risk of infection is heighted being a transplant patient. So his view was resect that area as the same time as doing the other surgery.

Shingles Vaccine?
I've just been reading about the shingles vaccine which is recommended for those over 50, yet the NHS is only rolling out a programme for those aged 70 and 79. Surely this is discriminating against those others who can benefit from it (bearing in mind that there appears to be quite a few RA patients

Prednisone and immunosuppressants side effects
I have a question related to prednisone and
immunosuppressants
- has anyone experienced a reactivation of latent infections such as shingles or herpes while on these drugs as a result of immune suppression? If yes, how long after starting treatment? Thanks and best of luck to everyone!

Shingles vaccine
Its worth thinking about this as she says she was told that we RA patients are on a low enough does of
immunosuppressants
to be OK. So people on other meds may also be able to protect themselves against this horrible disease.

Food intolerance testing
I've been doing some reading and I've seen that if you take
immunosuppressants
it may affect any results. I take hydroxychloroquine 200mg daily and wondered to what extent this may affect results? I read something about how food intolerance testing is carried out and it said they test for igc???
