Migraine link?
My partner has had migraine for years and when we got together he was on 80 mg of
amitriptyline
a day and still had attacks where he ended up taking a triptan. He is now off the
amitriptyline
and no worse. He is constantly 'heading off' attacks with a cold cloth and Anadin.

Duloxetine
My consultant started
Amitriptyline
two years ago but I've only ever been able to tolerate 5mg which is a kind of nothing dose. I've been through and done all the FODMAP diet and still really stick to that as things are so bad.

Possible flare
I have spoken to doctor asking if I should increase steroids who advised me to stay on 8mg as pain is not around temporals and to increase
amitriptyline
to 20mg, which has not helped with pain which is around parietal part of skull.

Falling asleep troubles getting me down
I’ve taken sleeping tablets for a few years (low dose
Amitriptyline
) and gawd that helped massively resulting in a good 7hours sleep from midnight. I’m titrating NDT Armour and in January started sleeping 8-9hours a night. I feel good for it and I even look better in my face.

Coping with unexplained flare ups
It's strange it's like my medication (
amitriptyline
) has almost just stopped working, or there is some other random change I haven't noticed. How does everyone else cope when this happens? It's hard to not feel very depressed just as I had a short time of getting my life back.

Amitriptyline: could abdominal pain be a side effect?
I have been prescribed
Amitriptyline
to reduce the neuropathic pain in my left leg as I was refused surgery to restore the circulation to my legs, on grounds of an unacceptable risk level.

Any suggestions?
The consultant mentioned duloxetine, pregabalin, and
amitriptyline
. The first two are not advised if you have a heart condition, which I have and the last one is not advisable for anyone over 65, I am 68. I tried Gabapentin (300mg, twice a day) but had a very severe reaction.

She has also declared I am a 'falls risk' because of the
amitriptyline
and my age (59) and wants me to reduce /stop taking it and to have a DEXA scan.

lower back pain
I was also prescribed
amitriptyline
by GP to help with tingling sensation in my head. I have started with lower right back pain and have trouble getting from sitting to standing position. Just wondering if tapering would cause back pain.

Ferrocalm probiotic
I have very recently been prescribed a low dose of
Amitriptyline
, which has helped my lower stomach pain and bloating pain hugely, but obviously it doesn’t help my slow digestion, constipation, straining etc.

Migraine Medication
I have tried
amitriptyline
, nortriptyline, topirimate etc but can't tolerate these drugs. I now use rizatriptan when the migraine starts and it does stop it though it often comes back and I have to take a second and sometimes a third dose over three days.

Menses, Mtx and Menopause..…
The mood stuff I’ve always had issues with as I have C-PTSD so no indicator there… Weight gain I started with a few years ago, which I put down to starting
Amitriptyline
and Covid hibernation (CEV). So, dear readers, have I had the menopause??

Carol singing and earplugs - update
The doctor has increased the
amitriptyline
that I take to see if that helps with the anxiety. I explained what I thought had made the tinnitus worse - Carol singing with ear plugs- but he did not think that would happen.?

Small Nerves Issues and Hair Loss Advice Sought.
During the consultation, it was agreed that I come off
Amitriptyline
as it had no effect on the burning, prickling, stinging and nipping, especially from the waist down. I thought I would get feedback after the blood test results but haven't heard.

My Story for private endocrinologist - what Qs to ask? 🤔
-On low dose 20mg
amitriptyline
for chronic insomnia, this works well but can feel lethargic and zoned out in the morning and has had no effect on fatigue. -For heavy periods I take tranexamic acid -Unexplained digestive issues investigated (letter).

POST-HERPETIC NEURALGIA
I am now seeing a consultant at the pain management centre, she has prescribed me
Amitriptyline
. This doesn't seem to be having much impact on the pain, I take this last thing at night and in the morning it feels like I have a hangover (without the benefit of the drink!).
