Something to think about if you take Metformin and have a kidney issue.
I stumbled across an FDA investigation list and they are (or were) looking into Metformin because of kidney stones. I looked further and found some other articles. Here is one: icahn.mssm.edu/files/ISMMS/...
NOT diabetic just 1,700mg/day of Metformin for PCa but have family members with history of kidney issues so I have been proactive with -- *fluids + great diet + exercise* -- to help keep kidney problems away. Been in the ER for bicycle crash issues and have heard many men screaming in pain ONLY TO FIND OUT that their problem was kidney stones.
TA, I'm left wondering that for patients who "are" diabetic respond differently than those who are not, but given Metformin as part of the trial. The glucose regulation part of it all, wouldn't that in some way play into this as well? That not the drug, but the condition be the underlying issue in regard to those patients who's bodies don't regulate glucose well be somehow subjected to a different effect of the PCa?
I started getting kidney stones many years prior to diagnosis with diabetes and starting on metformin. Since starting the metformin three years ago I've passed one stone.
