What are some good safe non-US pharmacies at which to get Metformin without having to argue whether or not you are using it for diabetes or not?

Be careful, especially with foreign sources:

Yes.

Unfortunately it appears that even properly purchased metformin is being investigated for carcinogenic contaminants.

Hey cesces!

Got a link for that which you favor?

T_A was right on with the "foreign source" advice. I manufactured pharmaceuticals for over 14 years. I helped train an Indian with a doctorate and one with a master's degree. I would be careful of drugs manufactured in different countries.

Organic foods from China? Uhhhh---. A journalist by the name of Peter Whoriskey did quite an expose a couple years ago about organic foods from foreign sources. Copy both lines or you won't access the article.

Italian olive oil with an ICEA approval is stringently tested. That is a separate branch of their "FDA" dealing exclusively with olive oils. If the ICEA is on the bottle I feel confident about the quality. I checked that out when the olive oil dilution was happening.

Berberine can be used in place of Metformin but do your research on that.

Unfortunately, regardless of where and how you buy it, most of these drugs and their raw materials are made overseas.

Predominantly because of the influence of the one party that takes the most contributions from the industry. And the party that most of us old white men consistently support.

We don't even fund the FDA sufficiently to inspect those overseas plants. And when they do, they provide advance written notice. Why on Earth do we permit this? Why on Earth do we vote for these pols.

Things are beginning to be tightened. FDA inspections at the facility where I worked were never announced. We kept cGMP practices rather tight.

"Both parties--Get elected with a paycheck, retire a millionaire!"

False equivalency. And often used as a rationalization to consistently vote for the miscreant party while inaccurately claiming to be independent.

There is no symmetry to the adoption of this position. It is almost ivariably adopted by old men who predictably vote for party who is the pharma company protector and enabler.

As we speak the house has passed an act enabling negotiation of drug prices. Which party do you think is objecting to and blocking it?

The one that most of us old men consistently support.

Please no more politics. HU isn't about that. We all share this earth, it's soil, water and air.

The drug legislation is being blocked in the Senate.

They aren't even going to take a vote on it, otherwise some people might be tempted to vote for it.

You should consider quit defending and excusing this with demonstrably false equivalencies.

As opposed to telling me that it's ok for you to discuss politics, but I shouldn't talk about health policy. Lol

"No more politics on HU"

Curumpaw, all you have to do is to stop bringing it up.

You insist on having the last, flawed, word. Just stop. Move on.

Oh and thanks for all the support you provide to help sustain our great healthcare system.

Thank you

Hey cesces!

All I did was point out that the FDA was beginning to finally inspect foreign drug manufacturers. I never mentioned politics in that post. Just that we are now being better protected. HU isn't about this!

I'm not taking your bait. I'm spitting it out. Please start something with someone else. I will not respond to any more posts about this.

My best to you and PEACE!

On the other hand, you could just follow your own proscriptions.

Oh... And please stop linking to or mentioning the names of particular politicians. That can only drag things off topic.

It's worth at least talking to a doctor. I didn't. I ordered from India. I took it for a few months. Only when I had a blood test did I find I had very low B12. I imagine a doctor would have put me on a B12 supplement right away.

cesces in reply toLeeLiam

Actually I think most docs won't bother to do that. Lol

Does metformin help. Are you on lupron

Metformin pretty much helps all that ails you. Same for trental.

in reply tocesces

Thanks I have never heard of trental. Is it a prescription.

Thanks so much

Yes it is ostensibly to provide better oxygenation of tissues over long periods of time to help repair radiation damage.

in reply tocesces

Thanks - is it a prescription????

cesces profile image
cesces in reply to

Yes, in the US you need a prescription to get it.

Thanks for the info
