Not joking. You started a thread with a mindless title, then posted a link with a pointless, clickbait description. Then you're too dense to realize that to see the title of the video we'd have to click on that link. Then you ask me if I'm joking.
Good general description of PD, alpha synucline and gut. But then he draws lots of links to meat using the word 'maybe' many times. Does he have any research?I've always been low on meat intake but still got hit.
well i was a vegetarian for 27 ... YEARS ... and i got hit, also ...
whatever the frick has caused our condition ...
and continues its progression ...
i for one ... am doing EVERY fricken thing to STOP/reverse any further problems.
p.s. i'm not officially dx'd ... i'm not taking any meds ... but i have tens of THOUSANDS of internal tremors daily and a handful of tiny external (visible) tremors (especially when I pick up a spoon or fork)
The theory proposed by this video is lacking needed evidence. Proteins in the gut, including alpha synuclein, are usually broken down before absorption, and cells in the gut are capable of generating their own alpha synuclein. He provides no evidence gut alpha synuclein is absorbed rather than created. Also it is generally thought that the propagation of misfolded alpha synuclein is the source of the problem, and he provides no evidence that ingested alpha synuclein is misfolded.
Not the first time this individual has given unjustified advice based on inadequate evidence - he has persisted in recommending raising uric acid levels even after that has been shown to cause serious adverse events. Details here: healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

i appreciate your thoughtful post. But as you know -- nearly everyone I can think of including the well respected Dr Laura Mischley -- says to AVOID EATING MEAT.
What is the Dr Mischley diet?
Based on her research, Mischley finds the people with Parkinson's that are doing the best over time post-diagnosis are eating fresh fruits and vegetables, non-fried fish, nuts, seeds, olive oil, coconut oil, wine, fresh herbs and spices. She notes that this closely resembles the Mediterranean diet. May 1, 2019

Yes all recommended as a good diet before and after diagnosis. But can we claim meat leads to PD.

According to Laurie Mischley's research entitled: "Role of Diet and Nutritional Supplements in Parkinson’s Disease Progression", fish and turkey were helpful, chicken was close to neutral, beef and fried food were adverse. The fish, beef and fried food results were stat sig and the others were not. There are other good reasons to avoid red meat and fried food, and I do.
With that said there's nothing wrong with a vegetarian diet and I did not intend to imply otherwise..
And ask yourself how many mcdonald's customers eat meat and don't get PD. Just maybe something else a bit more complicated is responsible.

Red meat is source of high heme iron = inflammatory.
Modern fish are tainted with heavy metal along with other water pollutants = toxic and inflammatory.
PD brain has trouble detoxing accumulated iron in the substantia nigra, and toxic iron level is antagonistic to bioavailable copper required for proper copper-iron metabolism and detox.
Mediterranean and other blue zone diets, often recommended for PD and other neurodegeneration, tend to be very limited in red meat for occasional consumption only.
Limit heavy iron and inflammatory diets including processed refined foods that contribute to oxidative stress and mineral imbalance including bioavailable copper.
when you say "modern fish" ... not sure "which particular fish" you are talking about? ...
i've read/watched/listened to 1000s of health videos (just call me: Dr YouTube, lol) ... and my understanding is that it is ok to eat salmon, sardines, mackeral, herring, anchovies (i think the acronym is SMASH or something like that) ...
because they have very low toxicity ... wadayathunk?
Modern fish - I mean the product of current and ubiquitous industrial pollution, as to more pristine ocean/water food of several decades past.
Salmon, sardines, and other smaller younger fish tend to accumulate less heavy metal, especially mercury, compared to other fish choices, such as swordfish, tuna, and other larger species that tend to accumulate more toxins. However, smaller fish nowadays also might not be so safe from ocean toxins, such as microplastics from recent textile pollution.

Yes, I felt the same way. I used to eat sardines and other smaller fish all the time as a seafood lover...
i have been on my O.M.A.D. diet for 615 ... straight days ... (nearly 2 years) in my effort to lose weight (i've lost 50 pounds with another STUBBORN 30 that won't go away!!!) ... in an effort to "heal my gut."
June 20, 2021 ... my left thumb tremored visibly for a few seconds.
Since then I've been on a quest to stop ... slow down ... reverse whatever the frick I have.
Saw a neuro/MDS specialist in sept 2022 ... his name was ... Dr. Bozo.
Seeing a new doc in February who has the skin biopsy test (Dr Bozo didn't even KNOW that was AVAILABLE!).
When you can afford to lose weight, OMAD, fasting, or other types of elimination diets can be helpful while battling errant systemic immune responses to allergens originating from compromised gut junctions/leaky gut or other microbiome dysbiosis. However, you must be careful to not prolong such drastic diets and eventually end up causing nutrient deficiencies once you pass over the tipping point or after the initial improvements eventually wane. This is part of why most extreme trendy diets eventually will work against you over time after temporary initial success, so be careful while addressing your gut issues and start introducing more varied healthy options to slowly improve/vary your nutrient intake.

So i'm getting all the nutrients plus even though I'm on an O.M.A.D. lifestyle (it's not a "diet" anymore) ... I'm eating too many "calories" during that two hour window (which is why I'm not losing more weight).
Focusing on losing excess weight is certainly important to reduce inflammation load. Incorporating resistance training to stimulate beneficial hormones along with cardio exercises might help. Good luck!
I was doing a 14 miles bike trip to the beach ... a couple of times a week ... up until 2 1/2 months ago ...
For almost 10 years my left hip has been gradually getting more painful causing a limp which is now very severe and painful.
I visited an orthopedic surgeon who said i have osteoarthritis -- and he said i need a total hip replacement.

I find preparing raw dead flesh unappetizing, so easy for me to avoid cooking. I struggle with other family members who want it.Bleached US Chicken is a problem as is Uk factory farmed chicken filled with antibiotics.

Also, I only eat ruminant meat. Basically beef. Cows have 4 stomachs and I think that helps filter out the lectins from the corn and grain they eat. I can't afford all grass fed meat. I think non grass fed chicken and pork is probably chock full of lectins.
