Two runs into week 7, I went off to Lisbon for a few days with Mr Grumpy. It was HOT! And to make matters worse, there was a lot of food and wine lurking around every corner to ambush me and, to be honest, I didn't always get away πIt's a very hilly city and we did a lot of walking, but I had a run to do. So I set out early-ish one morning to run along the river front. We were staying right in the down town area, so I walked past people with their breakfast pastries and coffee, and stallholders setting up for the day, before starting the run.
Phew! Sticky and sweaty, even in my cropped knee length tights. I went pretty slowly, and I was amazed to see just how many runners were out and about. It was pretty useful too, because if I kept an eye on them, the locals knew nifty ways to run that kept to the shore and avoided the busy roads.
The 24-hour bar next to the ferry station was quite a sight to behold at 8am, and I didn't linger π«£
In fact I instantly decided it was as good a place as any to turn back π
But there was also somebody doing tai chi all on his own on a little jetty, it really is a fascinating place.
This archway through to an open square was the begin and end point of the run, it fronts onto the river Tagus (which is so wide it's like a seafront). Absolutely beautiful.
I have found week 7 to be a bit of a challenge, coming back from a bit of a virus which sapped my energy, so I'm relieved to have got that done.
Week 8 next when I've caught up on my sleep!
