Thanks for all the encouragement last week guys, I’m not always able to get out as often as I’d like with work and school runs but got straight out there this morning after school drop off and huffed and puffed my way round.

That will come! Some people find slowing down helps. I used to run most of mine at what I thought was a comfortable pace and only later realised how nice it is to run and breathe at the same time!!! Now I’m a bit more experienced, I’m a lot more confident to stick a podcast on and go out to enjoy that without thinking so much about the mechanics of my runs which feels much more chilled. I’ve found new routes I really love too. You’ll get there. Just keep taking it step by step and you’ll be amazed where that gets you!
Always worth experimenting! I find that the couch to 5k commentary can be annoying with a spoken word podcast and I can’t focus on either properly. They’re better for me on continuous runs with less interruption from the coach!! Now, I tend to decide I’m running for x minutes and start my watch with no other guidance. That’s taken a bit of practice but it’s one of my top favourite types of run now.
Oh that sounds great and very liberating 👍 I’ll try some experimenting and see if I can find something that works, I think I just need something to distract me at the moment 🤣 x
Well done! Im currently not working and had thought a few months off would give me loads of time for this but with 4 kids and a puppy it's still strangely hard juggling all of it even with the daytime free! Im also trying to work on my pelvic floor alongside this because... kids. I'm determined to look after myself a bit now!
I did w5d3 yesterday and it was ok actually. I'd been running at 5.1mph until w5r2 when I slowed it down and so I did half of yesterday's at 4.6 and half at 4.4 which sounds so slow to me but I got through it! I think I'll stick with 4.4 now for longer runs and work up the pace a bit when I've actually graduated.
In the end I put on a comedy show to watch on the treadmill and distract me which kind of worked but the issue is you're then stooping your head too much really to watch it which wont be good for form, so I think I may go for a podcast too. I need something to really occupy my thoughts and distract me and im.notmsure music can do that right now. I'm terrible for clock watching!
Well done for completing w5r3 that’s great, the reduced pace sounds like a good idea especially in this warm weather and I’m sure pace will improve with time. I’ve never logged mine but I’m sure it’s definitely not anywhere near 5.1mph, I only just made it passed a woman pushing a pram the other day!
Wow, 4 kids and a puppy sounds like hard work, well done you for sticking with it.
I am also going to try a podcast on my next run so we’ll see how that goes. Hope you have a good week 👍
