If youโre in the UK and have been watching the BBC this week, itโs been hard to avoid the news that thereโs a big event on this Saturday (and Iโm not talking Eurovision!). Round here, the shops and houses have leant into it in a big way. Thereโs a sea of red, white and blue around the village.
Are you spotting signs of the upcoming coronation on your runs? The most surprising (and terrifying!) one round here is a life-sized image of the King glaring at you as you run or walk past! It scares me every time, even though I know it is there!
So hereโs the challenge: take a coronation themed picture when youโre out next and post it below. Interpret this as widely as you like! Bunting? A pub sign mentioning a royal. It could even be something random in red, white or blue. Perhaps you can find something even more unexpected on your run route as I did!
Good luck fellow runners!

That picture would scare me! I'm going in to work to say goodbye, I'll see if there are any things there, there's not much along our river though and that's my neighbours favourite place to run or walk
I'd rather not go, so I'm procrastinating, at least I found a pair of socks, one left one right, I get really twitchy when I wear 2 of the same I miss the people who live there and we haven't told them about Willow, he used to take music nights, so I'm going to have to lie too
Our daughter always wore odd socks! You are not lying, you are being kind. We withheld bad news from my mum when she was in care; she would have forgotten between visits and had to experience the pain all over again. But you know all of that.
I always wear odd socks but don't like wearing them in wrong feet, most of my socks are not foot specific though, oddly enough someone must have said something because none of them asked after him
I'm sure I shouldn't put this here but it's probably the worst thing I've seen in my life, and believe me, father Christmas was bad enough, if anyone's offended tell me and I'll take it down,
oh dear, did you say to them "oh that's looks great" but really thinking it belongs in a horror movie! i think that picture should win this photo challenge hands down ๐คฃ
No I said " who the h*** put that together," then "don't tell me I know" and they all grinned, they are looking for a suit for tomorrow. There are a few flags flying though, and a party planned
I thought that was most likely to be the case! Who knows-maybe on your next run youโll spot something red, white or blue, or otherwise tenuously linked!
Thatโs ok! This was only meant as a big of light hearted fun to provide a bit of distraction on runs and walks over the coronation weekend! You never know what might pop up as youโre out and about. Iโve remembered Iโve got a pub called โThe Crownโ nearby so I might have a run that way tomorrow!
The only think I spotted... was this... it has read and it has blue and the sky is white in the photo ? There is very little in the way of decoration here in the town.. although on our walk yesterday in Barmouth... there were one or two decorated windows...
I love that! Wool bombing has such a cheery effect on the streets. My crochet is so slow that it would take me ages to do that and Iโd be sad to let it get wet! Glad that others arenโt so precious as I am!
Thatโs superb! I crochet a bit so I can appreciate that thereโs some proper work gone into that. Thanks for sharing! Did you head along the river as part of your walk/run? I love running alongside water. Good opportunity for wildlife spotting!
Brilliant ๐๐๐I am very excited to see this Coronation in my Life Time ๐
I have watched a few films about King Charles lll and he is a very educated and passionate man! He engages with the public, has set up the Prince's Trust, he is compassionate about our climate and for our future! There's so much more I didn't know about King Charles lll and I am dead excited about this amazing opportunity to watch King Charles lll and Camilla's Crowning ๐๐๐
We are on holiday in Majorca with our son and family, so no running this week, but spotted this balcony in our hotel this morning ๐ฌ๐ง๐ฌ๐ง ๐
A wet but fun parkrun celebrating the Coronation ! Even the late Queen returned to give the first timers welcome. Being home of the Navy , Portsmouth is smothered with bunting ,
I didn't see a thing on my run and my commute to the Pilates studio, though on that walk I was listening to some rather disturbing analyses of the judicial landscape in the U.S., so I might've been distracted...
However! It's all over the German news! This morning, in a newsletter from Der Spiegel, they wrote at length about it (only to end by claiming to hope that Charles might make royalty less loved... as if they didn't notice how much Germans love anything royal...). And now the local newspaper is also full of coverage...
