Well work got in the way again, of catching up on posts and of trying a short run-walk. I was hoping to try the latter on Thursday or Friday evening, but no such luck. But! I now have a week off, up in the Scottish Borders, and what should I find in the cottage but a snail! (A model snail, not a real one). That had to be an omen. Also, since I'm away I no longer have my cat to keep me company on the IC.
So this afternoon I finally got my running gear on, and thought I'd try a W1 run since that sounded close to what my physio advised. It was very odd being told to stop running after one minute - felt like I'd barely started. What a contrast to January. Leg didn't feel too bad, but still one or two twinges. I'll have another go in a couple of days, provided I feel ok tomorrow. The countryside is beautiful and the light is stunning, such a glorious place to run - but I have to take it gently and remember the snail.

Good luck with your return to running. How long have you been on IC? Iβve been laid up for four weeks & seeing physio today - hoping get go-ahead to start running again, albeit slowly. Love the snail & enjoy your break in the Scottish Borders π
Thanks QueenTea! I'm sorry to hear you are here on the IC with me, but I hope your physio appointment helped. I'd been having problems most of my journey through C25K but only saw a physio after I graduated (about 6 weeks ago?). Turns out the problem (sciatica) has probably been there for years, it's just the running that made it more prominent. The physio guy has been amazing, and I'm definitely seeing improvements, but it is taking time. Let's hope that we're both running again, snail-like, soon
So pleased to hear you're seeing improvements - I've heard sciatica is very painful.
Mine started just as I graduated, also about six weeks ago, and I think it's improving albeit slowly. It did feel better after the massage yesterday, but I've just done some time on the cross trainer and it feels a bit niggly. I was told another two weeks with no running, so hoping it will be cooler by then.
Hope we'll both be chasing the snails again soon. x
It is frustrating how long these things can last! I hope you're still seeing improvement. Fortunately the sciatica I have is more of an annoying ache - been there so long I'd assimilated it as 'normal'! - but it does spike into more intense pain during and following running. Let's hope you're right about chasing snails
Haha! Thanks. It definitely was a slow and steady outing (don't feel like I can call it a run), but getting some twinges so not sure whether to try another today or not.
