How do I help my mum become more responsive after heart surgery?
My mum had heart surgery 3 weeks ago for a replacement mitral valve. During surgery her heart ruptured and we were told her chances of survival were slight. She is still with us - critically ill but responding slightly after having been taken of sedation. She is receiving C-PAP and on dialysis

New to dialysis
Hi, I'm new here too. Glad there's a place that I can talk to folks going through the same thing. I'm going tomorrow to have cathodor put in my neck, (due to my small veins). My fistula didn't work in my arms. How dangerous is it in my neck, ill be on dialysis until I get a kidney.

ibs and dialysis
I have irritable bowel syndrome (YUCH!) and need to run to bathroom frequently and immediately. I will probably be starting dialysis in a center in the near future and wonder if anyone has had the same problem and is on dialysis. I don't know how I can sit in the recliner chair for 4 hours while needing

Feeling sick during and after dialysis
Well, after a year of dialysis i have discovered what makes me feel sick and how to solve it! Thought I'd share it in case it rings a bell with anyone else..... I used to use a chart for setting my nxstage machine where the UF rate was calculated in blocks: 0- 0.5, 0.6-1.0...........etc... The problem

Taking Venus line off before arterial line in dialysis
Hello. I have a line in my neck. In dialysis yesterday the nurse mistakenly took off my Venus line first before the Arterial line via the machine. I began to feel Funny, told her and she laughed and said she hasn't done that for a long time (which meant she'd done this before. What happened to me please

My donor is a match!
Hi Everyone! I'm a newbie. I am currently doing dialysis while I wait for transplant. I have a donor (my nurse practitioner) and she is a match so it's just a matter of scheduling the surgery. I'm so excited!

Introducing Myself :)
Hi! I'm a 63 year old woman with my second kidney transplant. I found out I inherited polycystic kidney disease 20 years ago and received my first transplant a couple years later. That transplant eventually failed and I was on dialysis 5-1/2 years before I received this transplant 5 years ago. It's working

Problem with staff at dialysis center
I have been having problems with the social worker at my dialysis center. She interferes when I am speaking to mother staff and says I am disrespectful in a demeaning , condescending tone of voice. This is in front of staff and patients so I am humiliated. I have responded in kind. I know isn't good

Hi All, I am 21 years old and was recently diagnosed with acute renal disease- Stage 5. Unfortunately my nephrologist conducted a biopsy and concluded that the damages in my kidney are irreversible. I am still able to urinate and don’t have many symptoms, but was told that I need a kidney transplant

A Kidney Needed
Just reaching out to anyone to help us find a living donor for my amazing fiance. He is a father of four and going strong. On dialysis now since June and the side effects are horrid but we have faith 2018 is the year of a donor. Is two hours a day of spreading the word enough?

Getting more information on PKD
Dear All, This is my first post, but I follow the posts with interest. I am female, 64, and have known that I had PKD for 30 years . In those days there was not as much knowledge and support as now, and I believe that those of us who have this condition will have much better opportunities to deal with
