Why would a kidney with no function hurt?
Hello my boyfriend who is 24 is going to dialysis due to his chronic kidney disease however he is having extreme pain in his kidney and we don’t understand why. Also has anyone experienced trouble breathing or fluid build up in the lungs even if dialysis wasn’t missed and you watched your fluid intake

Hi i just discovered this site and figured I'd share my story. My father caught this virus late March. He was hospitalized April 2nd since he had shortness of breath. He was treated with some antibiotics and steroids. They also tried hydroxychlorequine. He was getting oxygen support and was improving

NXStage home patient constantly threatened by nurse/doctor if I have questions or concerns. They say then go in center or hospice.
Hello, I’m a 67 year old male on home hemodialysis NXStage since October 2019. My daughter is my partner she is a nurse and has worked in dialysis for years. Everything has gone well with treatments at home. The only problem we have is that every time we have a question about my treatment I’m being

Looking to connect with other students with CKD
Hello! I graduated from college this May and I'm preparing to start a creative career in marketing and design. But first I need a transplant. It's been about 6 years since my diagnosis and it would have been nice to be connected with other students who are managing kidney disease and school. It hasn't

Nerve pain
I've been on PD dialysis for 16 months, very compliant, have diabetes (controlled) and hypertension (controlled). I have been experiencing significant pain in my feet and ankles nightly around 4am. Painful to even walk but the pain abates over the morning. I'm pretty sure it's neuropathy. I already

Incremental dialysis?
Instead, reducing frequency of hemodialysis sessions, as well as
peritoneal
dialysis
, can contribute to a lesser decrease of residual renal function."

Covid X Kidneys
So yeah, it's day 48 for us. My mom is struggling a lot with delirium, muscle wastage and some bedsores on her back. My concern now is her kidneys which are not working properly and she is having dialysis from time to time. Doctors told us they have no ideia if that will be a permanent condition. What

Chest Drain & Heart Racing
So, mums had a bit of a rough afternoon. The doctor said that shes had a line changed (I think for the kidney dialysis machine) apparently its an old one that needed changing. They tried to put it in her thigh because thats where the previous ones have been. They couldn’t get it, so then they tried

Selenium Deficiency: possible relationship to, Immune system, Digestion, Crohns, Hair loss, Infertility, Weight gain, Fatigue...etc
Looking for something in the cupboard yesterday I came across my opened packet of Brasil Nuts... And I thought, ah ha... SELENIUM! Just 2 to 3 nuts per day as I recall, is the required daily amount...ingesting the food containing the selenium is always better than taking the supplement of course. During

Mum, COVID-19 and in ICU (4 weeks).
Hi all, I joined this yesterday after desperately searching for some support as my mum has been ill the last few weeks with COVID-19. Reading through your posts has given me some comfort & hope. My mum was admitted to hospital in the UK on 11/04/2020, with what they initially thought was pneumonia

Kidney failure to dialysis to Transplant and beyond
My husband was diagnosed with Kidney failure 11 hears ago, he was on dialysis for almost 7 years. He got transplant few years ago and is doing much better now. It is tough experience and part of your life, just remember that every day and every hour is different so take a moment at a time. Ask for support

Kidney failure and the quacks...
Quacks are the people who are not qualified doctors. There are thousands of them in my country. Once they focus on your pocket, they will try to finish it soon. Friends be careful. When I had this problem for the first time, I tried many online quacks. They looted my pocket and complicated my problem

Hi everyone. My Dad had an aneurysm in February and alot of his large bowel and gallbladder removed whilst in surgery. He spent 6 weeks in ITU where his kidneys needed filtering a few times. There was talk of dialysis but then the kidneys started to improve on their own. Fast forward 4 weeks and my dad

GFR 8
My husbands GFR is going down and he’s pushing dialysis off. His GFR went from 8.0 to 7.8 in 2 weeks. So is his GFR really still 8? Thanks for your time.
