Increase in Foot Swelling During Tapering
I wanted to check in to see if others have had a problem similar to mine. I had some increased fluid retention and neuropathy in my feet when I first started the 15mg dose of prednisone, but it wasn’t severe. I am finding as I have lowered the dose (now almost completely at 8mg using DL’s slow tapering

tapering off steroids
Hello I'm currently tapering off 5mg Prednisolone, initiated a few years ago when I had Covid which was triggering my severe asthma. I don't need it anymore for that reason except I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency a few years ago. Recently seen an endocrinologist and had a short synacthen

gum recession
Hi I have been on Pred for 5 years now and still tapering. Now tapered to 2 mg finally. Its been very up and down but seems to be getting better. my question is : I started to have gum recession and I can say it definitely was never an issue before I developed PMR. It could be just coincidental

5/25 update on Zytiga failed
To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. Plarify scan showed only one active site in hip which was radiated. 4/4 PSA dropped to 0.24 which indicated the lesion was knocked out and I would be hormone sensitive and stay on Zytiga. Yea

Strange symptoms a year after 3rd Pfizer shot
I'm new to this site, so please excuse me if there are already similar questions to mine! I'm having PMR type symptoms and have today started a course of Prednisone. My problems began in February this year (2023). I just wonder whether it's possible they have anything to do with my booster shot in

Flare advice
I was down to .5 mg of Prednisolone and my brother died 4 days ago. I’ve had severely tender headache since. I know I can increase from advice given on this forum , and drop down to just above last dose a few days later, but how much should I increase by please. I forget although I’ve had previous flares

Lack of understanding of PMR and prescribing Prednisolone
I’m posting this link (written by a PMR patient in the USA) mainly in response to JMT_hiker’s recent post. It is a story of mismanagement of PMR and medication due to lack of understanding of the disease and how Prednisolone works and consequences for the patient. Fortunately, the majority don’t and

Thinking of our conversation on pred level and how to handle stressful moments to keep adrenal drama at bay....
So things for me and PMR and pred have not gone the way a lot of folks have. I read about when you take the pred in the beginning most have amazing relief then begin the journey of slowly reducing to find the next good dose. Then reading the symptom tea leaves of symptoms to make decisions on the next

Hi, could anyone tell me if I have to request a referral to see a respiratory consultant, I have not seen one so far, and I was diagnosed with COPD almost 10 years ago? I had a flare-up recently but did not know I was having one till I went to see my GP for something completely different and they told

Prednisolone
Hi Pnut, I was recently recovering from Covid which left me with a bad cough, and rather than antibiotics my GP prescribed Prednisolone and 5 day course of 6x5mg tablets once a day helped me almost immediately. I have had a similar dose in the past and it works great for me. I hope this is helpful to

Metformin
My husband is nearly 86. He is on 12mg of Prednisolone. Now he has been diagnosed with a blood sugar level of 7.9. He has been prescribed Metformin, and is very frightened , because of the possible side effects. Can anyone tell me if it always happens please?

Uvedose Vitamin D3 100,000 - anyone ever taken it?
Hello All, I have two questions: 1. This is for PMR Pro who I believe lives in Northeastern Italy? The floods seem horrendous and I am wondering if you are all right. 2. I am in France and after a spell with heart palpitations that were different from my usual mitral valve plus scenario, I saw a

Any advice gratefully recieved..Bronchiectasis exacerbation?
Good Morning all, just wanted to seek some help from those in the know ( albeit not medically trained). Mum is 94, started going downhill 8 weeks or so ago, tired, more short of breath than normal and sputum hard to clear and change of colour. Started her Co-amoxiclav but 8 days on no improvement so

GPs and Actemra
Can CGPs prescribe Actemra? What are your experiences? I’m in the US, and have had 3 bad experiences with rheumatologists. One good one who listened, but she left. My GP has been prescribing my prednisone, but not really managing the dose. I’ve been stuck at 9 mg for a year
