Why I stopped metoprolol
Quick summary: I’ve had one ablation, for A-fib, August 2022. All was well A-flutter began in August 2023. I’ve had five cardioversions since then, lasting from three weeks to three days. I am now in A-flutter awaiting an ablation on February 6. Success rate statistically is around 95%. Fingers crossed

I have been taking dronedarone for 4 years for paroxysmal af. At first it worked very well but now I go into AF about once a week. My last annual check was 400 af episodes which was a shock as I was not aware of that many. I have a pacemaker as my heart rate was too slow . It has been fixed at 61. An

Blood test after x-ray
Despite having a lingering cough, my mum has had no other systems but decided to see the doctor. They suggested she have an x-ray. Anyway, they've asked her to have a blood test regarding her heart. Her cough seems to be getting better and she doesn't feel tired, had any chest pains or any other

Open heart surgery
I had my first meeting with the surgical team at Papworth yesterday . I’m now pencilled in for an aortic valve replacement in June. We discussed my AF , the effects of surgery on episodes after and anticoagulants . Interestingly they stated that oral anticoagulants reduce the risk of stroke by 60/70%

Support for husband having triple heart bypass in February 2024
My husband had a heart attack in August 2023. When stenting his artery, surgeons said another artery needed attention. They tried to stent 5 days later but couldn't and he was put on the waiting list for a bypass. This is scheduled for mid February. He's only 65, fit - but a Type 1 diabetic. He's terrified

Another bisoprolol query
I take 2.5 mg of bisoprolol daily and in normal sinus rhythm a steady heart beat of 65 bpm. I've had three 40+ hour episodes of AF so far this year and was admitted to A & E during last episode. I had increased bisoprolol dose to 3.75 twice a day while in AF . The doctor in Same Day Emergency Care

Ablation of AV node after pacemaker put on in July
Well, I have finally had the AV node Ablation, after having the pacemaker placed in July. Now I don’t get arrhythmia anymore but very fast pulsations and low rates, always around the 80s and at rest 75. Guess the pm needs to adjust to a more acceptable pace. Waiting to see. Any ideas, please. Thanks

Understanding my GP's message
I am in permanent AF and taking Edoxaban, Bisoporol and Ramipril. Recently, at my GP's request I wore a 24 hour ECG monitor. Looking at the GP's referral for that on the NHS app it seems she suspected heart failure. Have just had a message from the GP which said ' 24hr ECG reported that the rhythm
