To Provenge or not?
Consider a clinical trial involving
abiraterone
plus “X.” But this means waiting until PSA hits 2.0 for most clinical trials. Why should I wait until PSA is >2.0? We know I am now castrate resistant. And why not Provenge? It has been shown to prolong life >1 year for men with PSA<20.

Merits of generic abiraterone acetate vs. Zytiga
I have been taking 1000 mg of Zytiga since early May this year. Now I see that several firms sell generics: Mylan, Apotex, Hikma, Teva, Patriot. I expect the efficacy and side effects would be the same, but the exorbitant cost would be considerably reduced. Am in the USA, and gross cost of Zytiga

Next Step
He has castration-resistant prostate cancer with progression despite
abiraterone
, enzalutamide, and docetaxel chemotherapy. About 4 months ago, he began treatment with radium-223, and has received 4 of 6 infusions thus far.

Dental extraction while on Zometa
I am currently on
Abiraterone
, prednisone, Lupron and infusions of Zometa every 3 months. Zometa strengthens my bones due to lesions on the spine. Zometa has an adverse effect on the jaw and weakens it.

"Early initiation of Lu-177 PSMA radioligand therapy prolongs overall survival in metastatic prostate cancer"
Addition of
Abiraterone
or Enzalutamide provided a significant prolongation of survival (40 months, p<0.05). On the other hand, prior surgical or radiation treatment of primary tumor had no significant effect on the OS (30 months, p>0.05).

PSA rise from 30 to 130 initial 3 months on Zytiga after Docetaxel
This is my initial 3 months on Zytiga (
Abiraterone
Acetate) post chemo (Docetaxel). Oncologist advised previously that if Zytiga fails next treatment will be chemo. Not sure if that will be docetaxel or cabazitaxel or something else. I am public health patient in Australia.

Xtandi or Zytiga or Yonsa? Pros, Cons, Side Effects? What about Erleada?
What are the pros and cons of Xtandi (enzalutamide) and Zytiga (
abiraterone
acetate) and Yonsa another formulation of
abiraterone
acetate? Particularly regarding side effects. It seems the docs never do a good job of explaining side effects, until they are upon you.

Off Lupron, and legs are stronger.
I always assumed it was the
abiraterone
that caused the leg weakness. Thanks.

Advice on an MO at Johns Hopkins?
Further, if the EBV serology is due to sub-clinical reactivation of latent EBV I think the oral steroid that accompanies
abiraterone
could be a problem. Foundation One sequencing of the original biopsy was ordered two weeks ago.

Abiraterone and Lupron lower PSA
After being on
Abiraterone
and Lupron for 1month, my PSA is undetectable. Scans done in May showed prostate Mets to my upper spine. Not sure what this means. Can the cancer shrink or is it just stopped from growing more?

How much prednisone is needed with abiraterone?
This is a frequently asked question among men using Zytiga. The answer is highly individual. The benefits and side effects have to be monitored. There is no "one size fits all." https://pcnrv.blogspot.com/2019/06/how-much-prednisone-is-needed-with.html

Help please - what next
We can't get
abiraterone
in the UK yet but wonder if it's worth paying for privately after radiotherapy. Thanks for any thoughts.
