TSH low the rest normal
Can anyone explain why my TSH is low yet the rest is normal? I know my new doctor will be onto this in a flash when they do a test shortly and probably reduce my levothyroxine (I`ve had this battle for years) The following is a private test T4 = 121 range 59-154 TSH

Higher CSF/serum free-T4 ratio is associated with improvement of quality of life during treatment with L-thyroxine
An interesting paper. Note a parallel with Pernicious Anaemia/B12 deficiency in which some have low CSF B12 while having high serum B12. Asking the question, though the answer is almost certan, has anyone ever had their CSF thryoid hormone levels tested? On Twitter: [i]Johannes W. Dietrich @drjwdietrich

New blood test results! Two of the important ones where missed! On the NICE guidelines I am borderline deficient on B12 and folate! I didn’t ask for T3 but got it! It’s 5.3 pmol/ ( 3.1-6.8) and my T4 is 19.1 pmol/l (12-22) I said not to bother with TSH Many thanks

Cancellation of Arthroscopy as low TSH
Good Evening Everyone I thought I would share this with you. I am scheduled to have a private Arthroscopy on Thursday 12th Oct. I had a pre op appointment and had some bloods taken on 30th Sept. I got a telephone call today from a nurse to say that the Consultant Anaesthetist was cancelling the operation

Over medicated
Hello, Sorry, I know I need to update my profile, just haven’t got round to it yet. I had a quick question before I go back to my doctor for a second opinion. Hashimotos and been on Levo since March. Started on 75 now all the way down to 25 Teva and still my TSH is untraceable, so I and the Dr presume

Endo appointment, T3 results at last and hyperparathyroidism possible
Thanks for your replies to my previous post and also the advice that I should investigate hyperparathyroidism. I saw the endocrinologist today and apparently my July '23 results (which I hadn't been told, and certainly they'd never mentioned they'd do T3) were: TSH: 0.02 (0.27-4.2) T4: 20.5 (12-

Query viz meds reduction
I've just started on a T3 trial two month ago and a doctor in the practice who doesn't know me has noticed from latest results that my TSH is suppressed and required me to cut down my T4 to 75% of my regular dose every other day. ie (75mg/100mg on alternate dates). My regular doctor warned that this

I’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for 9 years with levels up and down throughout this time. I normally take thyroxine 75 mg. On my last blood test my TSH level was 10 and my T4 - 14 I had many symptoms including fatigue, dizziness and low heart rate Could low thyroxine also cause some discomfort

Thyroid medication update
So presently taking 60 NDT and 25 t4 synthroid. I couldn't tolerate 90 ndt so my doctor gave me 25 t4 as a slower release and doesn't hit as hard as ndt. So it seems this addition of t4 has helped me. My sleep is better, my eyebrows filling in more, the few pounds I was holding onto seem to have dropped

Another Cholesterol question
Morning All I have just read Soaping’s post about high cholesterol and TSH. It’s interested me particularly as mine is the same and the surgery are trying to push statins on me. Currently I’m hypo so I said I’ll decide when my Thyroid levels are optimal. The link given by shaws explains the

Having a hard time with levothyroxine.
Hello, I’ve just finished a full 6 weeks on 75mcg levo (after reducing dose from 87.5mcg as felt this was too much for me) on the higher dose I was very tired, had an upset tummy, hand tremors and heart racing. Is joint pain, muscle weakness and twitching, involuntary movements all side effects of

High reverse t3, were you better when you switched to Armour/NP? or T3 only?
Hi everyone, I have had Hashimoto's for 30 years and am currently on 100 mg of Synthroid and 5 mcg of Cytomel. I have been a mystery to my providers because I still have hypo symptoms (cold, hair loss, constipation, brain fog, low blood pressure 93/48, low pulse 46, low body temp) yet my current

My GP has no idea how hypothyroidism has affected me.
I had a telephone appointment with my GP today. He told me that my blood my TSH is elevated and that I need an increase of liothyronine. I told him I have an appointment with the Endocrinologist in a week or so, hence the blood test. He then asked me when I was going back to work as I have been off

Detectable TSH
I remembered, I wanted to ask what is meant by “detectable” TSH when interpreting blood tests. FYI range is 0.2 - 4.0 miu/L if that helps. I tried to google research the answer, but I still don’t understand. It’s just so many numbers! Edit: Range changed from optimal to actual range.

So frustrated
I'm happy on 20 mcg lio and 50 mcg levo - but each year it's a battle to get the blood tests done. I have problems each year with the GP: generally they say they can only test TSH (which is obv a total waste of time given the lio) so I get the blood form from the endo. Four years ago, the GP did the

Thyroid, Hair Loss and Magnesium
Good Morning! If anyone could give me alittle I would be very grateful. I have high blood pressure and was pre diabetic which I now have under control, but read that magnesium was very good for both, hence started to take it. I didnt realise though that magnesium can impede some medications to my horror
