My worst chemo day so far -- major grump time
Sorry its a grump blog. Those ladies nervous about chemo may wish to not read on. Its not nasty I promise-- just a great example of how things don't always go to plan which has happened today in spades. This is now officially my worst chemo day ever. I thought last week was bad with 8 attempts to

Best nebulisers
Hello everyone. I have bronchiectasis. I nebulise hypertonic saline, then breathing exercises before inhaling nebulised colomycin twice a day. My question is to find out from those of you who perform this routine, what are the best nebulisers? I have been loaned one from the NHS, but it is heavy

A Tale of Two Kidneys: Yet more continued monthly ramblings.........
This month I have discovered that when it comes to pain there is something even worse than meningitis, child birth and even a 7.5 hour half ironman triathlon. I find the child birth one hard to believe as I didn't feel anything when my children were born with the exception of discovering my wife had

Some causes of excess mucus and a few ideas on how to thin it out
Hi Folks! I had a strange thing happen to me recently so I thought I'd pass along what I discovered. I had such a problem with mucus in my nose and throat I could hardly breathe. I tried saline sprays, neti pots, nasal decongestants, etc but nothing helped. I happened to do a web search for

any advice on what to do next? My mum has just been diagnosed with PPC and the doctors at our Hospital have already given up?! HELP?!
My mum is 61 years old and this has come on very very quickly. She has been in and out of hospital for the last two months, originally with pneumonia which we now realise was fluid in her lungs from the cancer and a blood clot. Before this she was healthy. Four weeks ago she was diagnosed with Primary

My story- It may not be all rosy but it is as it is
One day 8 years or so ago I was looking forward to a first time trip to America. I had never been so far before and it was a once in a lifetime tour of California and the Gold Coast. I had been having a bit of trouble with fluid retention in my legs so, worried about D.V.T. I thought I would go

GP and information
Been to the GP to find out what is available in the community regarding IV antibiotics. He is going to look into what is available here - hospital at home entails a nurse visiting up to 2 times a day plus social care - home carer's. But they do not do IV’s! The consultant said when I get these bad infections

Bronchitol
I saw Tyniesha's post on this so thought I would update everyone. Bronchitol has been extensively trialled in the UK and I was on the bronchiectasis trial at the Brompton & am now getting it on compassionate grounds. It's amazing! I haven't had a single chest infection in the 2 yrs I've been on it

Sore Nose
I use O2 24/7 and my nose gets really dry and sore. I have tried several creams and found nothing helps. I get a slight relief from using Boots saline nasal spray but the relief isn't long lasting. My nose seems permanently blocked with dried blood and mucous. If you have any suggestions I'd be truly

Freeman
Well outcome of my visit to the Freeman Hospital, he has basically said a transplant is not for me 1) both lungs stuck to my chest wall due to previous operations. 2) Fungal ball/infection in one of my lungs. He will ask the surgeons if there is anything they can do but he also said don't hold your breath

my husband has continual breathing difficulties. Has anyone any advice on what treatments help, especially with the agitation and distress.
We already use Carbocystene, Salbutamol and saline nebules in the nebuliser and Oxazipine tablets when the distress gets really bad.

Sjogrens-just how dry can your mouth get?
I take nothing for the Sjogrens at present, do have
artificial
saliva
but could get through a bottle in a couple of days quite easily. As it is I try to carry water and have some citrus sweets on me.

How my story started
How my story started, but would like to say, I am now back on my feet, but wanted my story to go out, it is not always the illness that hurts but people can make it worse. My mother called an ambulance out at approx 6.30 am Monday 25th April 2011, after my illness escalated over four days
