Good Luck Eric...make sure you take time to Breathe in slowly and exhale long

and slow. It will help reduce those worries. Have fun :) xx

can you do some push ups for me and a wee run on the running machine I`m busy watching the PGA golf championships or I`d do do them myself. joking aside you`ve probably been in more potentially triggering situations and got through them... enjoy the workout.

You will be fine. Go get your workout on so you can get out of your head. Nobody is going to notice you in the slightest. You are just another gym goer. People are going to be working out or on their cell phone updating their Facebook status and Snapchat 😂

Go pump that iron 💪🏽

That's good, you got some exercise in today! I struggle with that all the time.

Everyone in the gym is focused on themselves. Remember that. I just read your updated post, and good for you for going. Hopefully, this will be what breaks the ice.

It still was hard for me to go....I had a lot of "stranger danger" radar glasses on lol

Hi Eric, I hope you had a good experience there. Do you have a family member or friend who could go next time?

How was your session at the gym. You are doing great Eric. Just know that nobody is watching you. People are minding their businesses.

i'm trying to tell myself that.....its very hard to fully accept it

It's hard Eric. Very hard but achievable. We will get there.

so how should I approach an interaction? Assuming no one is watching me or cares what I do?

Be yourself. You are not doing anything to impress anyone.

but idk how to be myself...I'm too worried about what everyone else thinks , that I like perform and put on an act for people, because i'm feared up that they'll find the inner weakness in me which is my social anxiety

Nobody is watching you. Everyone is struggling in one way or the other.

EricJones profile image
EricJones in reply to Teaching

youre sure of that? that no one tries to watch me and make fun of me?

Teaching profile image

Yes Eric. People are too occupied to be watching your body language.

so i'm going to my dads in a little bit, and we plan on playing "Apples to Apples". im worried that i'll be exposed and that my family will catch on that i'm the odd person out...how likely is that?

It's not gonna happen. On the contrary, they will be happy that you are socializing

Hi Eric - I experience this also. For me it has sometimes been helpful for me to risk "looking like a fool" and risk being embarrassed. Usually the actual scenario is something far less than what I had feared it would be. I find it is okay to be embarrassed - at least I tried. Nobody is paying as much attention to me as I think they are, and even if they are, it is okay to look like a fool. They are not perfect either and you have as much of a right to be there as they do. At least you are trying, and that's all you can do. When I have anxiety, looking at it this way sometimes helps (and sometimes it does not help). Whatever you decide to do, please go easy on yourself if you can, and give yourself permission to make a mistake. I share this hoping it is helpful. Best luck to you. Sending positive energy. :)
