Have you tried walking? I initially lost a couple of stone before I started the couch to 5k. Me and the missus were doing a 10,000 step walk every day and the weight comes off surprisingly quick.

If you are following the NHS plan please check your BMI on the NHS site and obtain the correct amount of calories for you.
For me calorie count all your food. Costs nothing and for me it works. The first time I realised how much I was over eating was when I took my normal portion of dried pasta and weighed it. It was 120g - they recommend 75g. I slowly reduced it to 50g and added many more vegetables. At times I cook my food portion in a separate pan from the rest of the family so I don’t put too much on my plate.
Have treats, don’t beat yourself up (I am very good at this one) and you will lose the weight. Take it slowly!
