I had my 1st phone consult with private endo last week, a new set of blood test results from GP due tomorrow and I will chat to consultant again. Just looking over consultants letter and she states that my thyroid is ‘nice and healthy’. My last FT4 result was 12.3 (12-22). Can this be ‘healthy’? I’m now a bit paranoid about consultants and don’t want another wad of money going out with little or no diagnosis. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Wondering about consultant’s comments
That is very low so I wouldn't call that healthy. Do you have any other results like the TSH and T3?
FT3 4.19 (3.1-6.8)TSH 1.88 (0.27-4.2)
I also have low cortisol and dhea. I’m afraid they’re on other posts and I don’t know how to post them here.
I feel absolutely awful and have moved from bed to sofa since last Thursday, each day becoming more tired. Sleeping 3 hours in the afternoon. I don’t feel ‘healthy’.
I think you need to find another Endocrinologist because you need further investigations.
Yes, I’m coming to that conclusion.
Ask for the list of recommended Endocrinologists from Thyroid UK. I was sent it but I feel ok at the moment so I haven't seen anybody on there yet.

Wasn't that the comment from the Medichecks doctor, from your post here:
healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
I’ve just read the notes from the Medichecks doctor and she says I’ve no need to worry as my thyroid is ‘nice and healthy’. How can a borderline t4 result be healthy?
A Free T4 level of 12.3 (12-22) is far from healthy. It means that your thyroid is producing very little thyroxine (T4) and what T4 it is producing is doing it's best to convert to T3, currently 4.19 (3.1-6.8). T3 is the active hormone that every cell in our bodies need. Eventually you will find that your FT3 level will also fall.
I usually ignore what the medichecks clinicians say because they are not thyroid disease experts.
As their comments often tend to be a load of rubbish I never ask for them
How do I stop them from commenting on my results? To be honest some of the things they say are very unhelpful and annoying.

You get the option, when you order your test, for with or without doctor's comments.
On the page which describes the test, eg Thyroid Monitoring:
medichecks.com/products/thy...
You choose from the options for
How would you like to collect your sample?
Then below that it says:
A doctor's report is included in this test. If you do not require a doctor's report then you can opt out. In selecting this option you agree that you have a qualified clinician who can interpret your results.
Below that there is a box and besides the box is:
Results only (without doctor's comments)
So if you don't want the doctor's comments you tick the box and you'll get just the results which will come through more quickly than if you have the comments.
Well, this consultant is meant to be a thyroid and adrenals specialist. I’m not living, just waking, eating, sleeping, repeat.
My so called expert offered me counseling for a TSH of 9.
Oh god, I hope you got someone who listened eventually. I’ll wait to see what she says about the new results but I’m just so tired and foggy it’s hard to concentrate. How awful to treat people like this.
I did but unfortunately he passed away. I haven't bothered to look for anyone else now and I do my own blood tests and get advice from people on this site or other sites in the USA. The people on these sites know more than most doctors I have consulted about my thyroid disease.
And do you just self treat?
Yes I do and I have taken Thyroid S from Thailand in the past. My T3 and T4 were low in the range but my TSH was 0.80 so my GP said he would be struck off if he gave me Levothyroxine. So I found a supplier and treated myself I had no choice because my GP was sticking to NHS guidelines. I was virtually bedridden and my hair was falling out and I had loads of symptoms of thyroid disease but my GP wasn't interested in symptoms just blood results.
Yes, they both said that, must be a medic thing. I certainly don’t feel healthy.

Which just goes to show how ill informed most doctors are about thyroid disease. Ifyou're paying an endo to tell you that a Free T4 of 12.3 (12-22) is nice and healthy then the only advice anyone here can give is to run away very quickly and find one who knows something about hypothyroidism. Ask for recommendations by private message before spending any more money.
I certainly don’t feel healthy.
Well, your recent posts and test results certainly show that you're definitely not healthy.
Previous post discussing your very low ferritin and need to test vitamin D

Have you had coeliac blood test
Are you getting ultrasound scan of thyroid
I don’t think I’ve had coeliac, what would it be called on a blood result? GP has done nothing but send my cortisol to an nhs endo. That was almost 2 weeks ago so I’m not expecting swift response.
In adults and children, with suspected coeliac disease, the following blood tests are recommended:
Total immunoglobulin A (IgA)
IgA Tissue transglutaminase antibody (shortened to tTG)
Easy test to do at home. Can buy online about £23
Did endo test vitamin D?
Endo asked for it to be added on to GP tests, GP refused, said I didn’t qualify for it. Tbh, I’ve really had it with this gp, I’ve been complaining of extreme fatigue for around a year and she kept saying it was menopause.
