Right hip pain related to bowel movements. What could this be?

Recently i have had IBS and i am getting mild pains in my right hip bone (don't know what it is exactly). I have no other symptoms of pain or anything anywhere.

This hip pain radiates along my right leg as well. It's not severe just mild.

What could this be?

I get this, but mine is extremely painful and radiates all round my body! I put it down to my IBS.

Did you consult with your doctor? If yes, did he tell the reason why it occurs?

My doctor is crap, but I know it is linked to the IBS, other people on here have similar. How old are you. I am assuming you are quite young. I'm 63 and had IBS for 35 years, so it has been a progressive thing for me. It seems to be getting worse the older I get, I guess because you get more aches and pains anyway as you get older!

I am 23 years old. And yes i have acid reflux apart from IBS and often accompanied by burps. This pain is like attacking me for few days and it's gone again. I even visited my doctor took antibiotics but didn't help. I guess i have to live with it life long.

I used to be IBS(D) when this all kicked off so didn't get the problems up top but as I have got older it is not quite as runny as it was and I find this gives me indigestion type problems up the top now, especially holding it which I have to do sometimes to get through the day. Do you tend to be more on the constipation side of things?

No, i rarely have constipation. I have had diarrhea for three days but then it stopped and now just this pain occurs.

I suspect you have overflow diarrhoea. This is when the soft stuff pushes past the hard stuff, leaving the hard stuff inside you. Google it and see what you think!

Similar (pelvic) pain, when constipated. I took me a while to figure out that it's related to my intestines/colon. I have IBS C. When my colon isn't emptying properly this pain will occur. Have thought it was due to an old mattress, even bought a new one, but it didn't help. Now I know it's IBS related in my case.

I went to the gp with severe pain and they suspected appendicitis, but turned out to be a bad water infection had antibiotics and pain subsided. Think if it's ibs(C) the bowel backs up and presses on the bladder stopping it emptying sufficiently.

I happened to mention this kind of pain to physio when I was there for something else....he said there is no organ or anything significant over the top of right hip. I had it for a few weeks and then it disappeared. I assumed it was arthritis and it has mostly disappeared after a few months. I sometimes think that the older you are the more you get a variety of pains and aches and they usually disappear and sometimes reappear temporarily. It's good in one way but so annoying when for instance yesterday I had pains in left upper arm and right back for a few minutes a couple of times. I assume it's aging, wear and tear from gardening, as I am not dying and my diet is generally good (apart from occasional 1/2 bottles of wine which I would be better off without physically but more relaxed with mentally. )

I have had this pain before too, it stayed for a week and disappeared. Now it's back but little less than last few days and it's bearable. Also i pass little amount of gas during the day and night time, maybe it's related to this.

I have IBS c and get pain in the lower back hips and groins. Also my left leg goes numb. A large nerve runs from the hip through the groins and down the the legs. If the bowel is too full or iritated i believe it could effect this nerve and is very painful.

My legs do not go numb but the pain in the right leg spreads till my thighs. I guess it's related to the bowel movements and i pass little amount of gas during the day as well as night time.

Sounds a bit like a sacroiliac joint problem though they are hard to diagnose. Might also be a disc herniation as pain going down your leg. A physio would be able to find out for you.

Seems to be the most likely cause, cheers.
