I have been having a problem of at indigestion for a long time - 3-4 years. Currently, 26 years old male, normal BMI.
A week ago I started having abdominal discomfort and pain, center, left, right of upper abdomen. I tend to notice it getting worse after even a small meal and makes me feel unwell a lot. In the last two days, I also noticed some pain in the upper back.
The pain is not horrible but makes me stop doing regular activities. I consulted with two doctors, neither a GI specialist. One thinks it is IBS, while the other does not and ordered an endoscopy. I had an ultrasound (normal) and liver/kidney/inflammation tests (normal)
The only clue I have besides pain is the fatty stool. I feel like it means indigestion at pancreas level. Anyone face similar issues?

Yeah, they usually dont even consider it unless you mention it to them, I had to go through 4 different doctors before one said 'ohhh it could be!' Very surprising after hearing how common it is! Worth a mention?
Sounds like it could be your gallbladder, if you have not had it removed already. Having gallbladder disease can cause pancreatitis and lead to the liver not working properly too. This happened to me and then I was diagnosed as having coeliac disease.
The thing that annoys me: why do I have to do research about various causes and then TELL the doctor? They are experts: they should be able to decide the tests. They say to not google your symptoms but then fail to consider various problems I might have. This is annoying. I like and appreciate them, but I am a developer and don't expect customers to do googling an tell me what they might need. I just give it to them.
General Practitioners are just what it says on the tin, generalists. Most have specialities, but I have yet to come across a GP who knows much about gut issues sadly.
There cab be several causes including damage to the pancreas. The first thing is to check if you have it. It is called a fecal elastase test. Ask you GP for it. Then you should have a MRCP (biliary scan) to check fro damage to your biliary tree. Too important not to have the proper tests. Good luck.
Hi, endoscopy sounds good, maybe you have a hiatal hernia. I have this and you have to give up different foods, Especially chocolate, tomatoes the good stuff. I keep tums handy, this helps me fast! Good luck. Keep going, smile and say hi to a stranger! Sandy
Hi, I have been experiencing similar symptoms going for Lactose, lactulose, gluten allergy tests in the next few weeks and a rheumatologist for my back pain. According to my GP the 2 are not connected 🤷🏽♀️ The pain I experience is persistently on my left upper abdomen right under the left ribs.
