The other question I have is if there are things they can do to help with his symptoms as in
palliative
care
then surely he could have them as well and what are they?

My onc said there is only a 20% chance of it working and has referred me to the
palliative

Being a nurse doesn't help when its your own family!
I was a community nurse specialising in latter stage
palliative
care
before I retired last year you would think that I would have all the answers but Im falling into all the pit falls I used to advise my patients and families against. Jayne

Another stage
Palliative
care
consultant has been to see mum today and thinks that we have just weeks left. In my heart I knew it really but the wind has been knocked out of me completely.

Anyone else in my position?
Both of us are receiving
palliative
care
as there is no cure although I am undergoing chemo which will hopefully slow things down. We are both reconciled to the fact that you never know what life will throw at you the important thing is remaim positive and HOPE!

Snakes and ladders and cats
Last but not least, I invested in a
palliative
care
cat. I have a lovely new furry friend called Jim who lies on my poorly hands to make them feel better. Everyone should have one.

What to expect?
Does anyone here know what treatments may be offered to him, or would he just be given
palliative
care
(given his age)? I'm a bit clueless here - especially with benefits and social services, and need to wise up so I can give my mum support.

Mum
She is going to have
palliative
care
only. She is relatively comfortable and is just coming to terms having only been told today. All the family flying over tomorrow to be with mum and spend as much time with her whilst she is still well and we are able to chat to her.

Does anyone have experience of home care packages?
The doctors have said that she can now either come home or go to a specialist
palliative
care
unit. My dad and I would love her to come home, but I'm really worried that we wouldn't be able to cope (my dad's nearly 80 and isn't in the best of health).

Am I understanding this right? and has anyone had G-CSF before?
He doesn't cope under pressure, so his stammered response went something like 25% of women will be cured after 1st line treatment but if it recurs, then whilst they will throw every at you that they can...you are then classed as receiving
palliative
care
.

Miss You
We were referred to the PDSA and the only alternative they could offer was in
palliative
care
to keep her comfortable until either she died naturally or we felt that she was in pain.

Palliative Care Input
So, my question to you: has anyone on here, or someone you know, had

input for asthma symptoms?

End of the rainbow, or was it the railway?
I have been told that it is not possible to offer curative treatment & that any further
care
will be
Palliative
. I am allergic to Capecitabine (or Xeloda - the X in ECX) so no further Chemo is possible.

Hope even when diagnosed stage 4
To cut a long story short I was given a terminal diagnosis with
palliative
care
only. Lucky for me I saw a wonderful oncologist who commenced taxol and carboplatin chemo. I responded and had surgery half way through(once said to be a waste of time).
