Is it safe to take mesalazine/octasa long term?
Hi everyone, I'm Claire and was diagnosed with mild/moderative ulcerative colitis last year. Apart from an initial flare up (followed by diagnostic procedures leading to the diagnosis), my only symptoms have been an uncomfortable/slightly painful feeling in my stomach/upper intestine. My gastroenterologist

Raised Liver Markers - Octasa/ Mesalamine?
I started taking Octasa for Crohns in October 23. Just had blood tests (for another issue) and dr called to say that my liver enzyme markers were raised (ALT 255, AST 99, ALP 239, GT 334.. all substantially above the top end of normal) and they want to do an ultrasound to check my liver. The only difference

Octasa / Mesalazine - Should I be seeing more of a change?
Hello. I have struggled with symptoms for 2 years - loose, frequent bowels, always with urgency, fatigue, etc. Had colonoscopy and relevant tests and doctor says that I likely have crohns and is treating me as such. I had steroids for 3 months which generally helped (though my calprotectin was higher

Hi - I was first diagnosed with UC 7 years ago. Was prescribed suppositories at the time which cleared it up within a week. I’ve been in remission for 7 years but recently had Covid and the symptoms started at the same time. I’m currently on Mesalazine suppositories, 1g per day. Been on them for approx

Hello, new on here. Lifelong IBS but colonoscopy in 2020 showed mild IBD. Haven’t needed any medication yet. My specialist has suggested I start taking Mesalazine but I’m worried. Feeling Anxious
I have Collagenous Collitis. My Consultant wants me to start mesalazine and stop the budesonide which I’ve been taking on low dose for several months now. I’m feeling really anxious about moving to this new drug. Does it work? I know that you can’t take budesonide forever but it really has changed

Disabled son with very high fecal calprotectin
My son has very high fecal calprotectin levels, he is 9 and the last three have been 600+, 600+ and 500+, as our hospital only measures up to 600, he is on Neocate LCP as he is tube fed and unable to tolerate anything else, our Gastroenterology consultant has viewed a bowel biopsy from several years

Problems with Mesalazine
Hello. I was diagnosed with UC 5 years ago and put on 4000mg a day and 3 suppositories a week. I don’t feel well with water retention and ITI’s. My calprotectin test is 8. Could Pentasa cause my symptoms?

Hi! I just underwent full colonoscopy and was diagnosed with mild proctitis ( only symptom prior was rectal bleeding with bowel movement) and I was prescribed mesalamine suppositories.
