Could be some positivity for frequent UTI sufferers.
She went through my notes from my last referral and found a letter from December 2022 recommending that my previous GP prescribe a drug known as Hiprex (
Methenamine
hippurate). I did not get a copy of this letter, nor did my previous (and pretty useless) GP tell me about it.

I've had a UTI almost continually for the last 9 years and was on
Methenamine
Hippurate with Ascorbic Acid. However, when I changed GP's a couple of years ago they refused to continue prescribing this because ' you're not allowed vitamins on the NHS '.

Hiprex (methenamine - oral, Mandelamine, UrexHexamethylenetetramine): anyone?
My consultant urologist tells me hiprex is our fall-back treatment re the way we're managing the chronic issues involved in my various chronic urological/renal conditions. Nearly a year into finally tackling these lifelong problems in a more concerted manner, the treatment plan immunology+rheumatology

Pelvic pain symptom relief - my story to help others
So my dr then has put me onto a trial medication of
METHENAMINE
HIPPURATE 1gm per day (it should be 2g per day but I cannot tolerate it). This neutralises any acidity in my bladder to stop me getting pains.
