Armour thyroid
I have been on armour for several years and my endo is aware. 2 months ago I had a blood test which showed my levels were fairly low, TSH was 8 ish and t3 and t4 were low. So I increased my dose slightly whilst waiting for a further endo appointment. Within a couple of weeks I was hyper, no blood test

Can I eat 6 hours before thyroid test if I don't care about T4?
Hi there! I have an NDT thyroid blood test tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. I have read as many posts as I can to understand how to have the most accurate results possible, but because I am currently on antibiotics, I don't think I'll be able to follow all the excellent recommendations. I usually go to bed

Latest blood test results. Advice please!
Hello. I just wanted to ask some advice as the last two blood tests I have had showed a borderline underactive thyroid, but the GP won't do anything until the TSH is over 10. My previous blood test showed a reading of 5.9 mu/L. However, they decided to do yet another repeat blood test to rule out anything

Hello. I posted on here last week looking some advice on my latest blood tests. I have had and underactve thyroid for almost 3 years but have been experiencing all of the symptoms that I had prior to being diagnosed (and taking Thyroxine - I have always been on 50mg). I have just received blood results

The thyroid gland under Notch control
An interesting snippet. Which is just as well because this is all we ordinary people can view! Do TFC1 and TFC2 get controlled by TSH exactly the same as each other? Or are the response profiles different? Or do different isoforms of TSH affect them differently? [i]

How to prepare for my thyroid test?
Hi all, I’m on the following routine and wondered what I should do with my thyroid medication the day before the test: First dose: 3am - 125mcg Levo, 5mcg - T3 Second dose: 11am - 2.5mcg T3 I will do the test around 8am ensuring I’ve only had water. So should I NOT take the 11am T3 dose the day

Stopped taking NDT thyroid
Hello, could you share your experiences if you tried stopping thyroid hormone replacement? I was on NDT for years, developed hyperthyroid symptoms +very low TSH (normal ft3 and ft4), had heart arrythmia and high blood pressure, lost a lot of hair. Taking NDT didn't help with my weight problems or other

Help with getting a diagnosis
Hi all, I have been struggling for years now with symptoms of hypothyroidism. It’s all really come on over the last couple of years. My weight is out of control, I’m freezing all the time, my hair is dry and brittle, plus many other textbook underactive thyroid symptoms. I’ve been to the doctors

are hot flushes associated with hypothyroidism?
I’m in the process of being investigated for hypothyroidism, after a couple of private blood tests, most recent showing TSH of 5.06 mIU/l, free T3 of 3.9 pmol/l, free T4 14.3 pmol/l, TPO Ab 41.7 kIU/l My GP has been very supportive and has me booked for these tests to be repeated on the NHS to confirm

My Endocrinology appointment review no help! and my 1300 tpo just a small blip quote from endocrinologist (see my previous post)
My endo didn’t say anything to help I don’t have hypothyroidism and told her how unwell I am basically she doesn’t know what’s refused to help me and said she will repeat test in a few weeks . She didn’t care about the results of private bloods they mean notching and tpo doesn’t mean autoimmune thyroiditis

Hypothyroidism help
I had a thyroidectomy in 1984, to remove benign growths. The surgeon said about 25% thyroid remained, but he thought I would not need subsequent medication. I was not told to have regular thyroid function tests, and carried on with my busy life. After unrelated throat surgery in 1997, my consultant asked

Thyroid hormone homeostasis in levothyroxine-treated patients: Findings from ELSA-Brasil
From paper Antonio C Bianco has posted on Twitter about this new paper (of which he is a listed author). The first quote below has the image above attached. The second quote has a different image from the paper. [i]Can this be called normal? Look at T4 and T3 levels in LT4-treated patients with normal

First NHS Endo Apt - a battle story
I finally have an NHS endo apt (which they cancelled but I begged to get reinstated) and wanted to be armed with questions - can you help? ... Short story is I've been battling joint/limb pain/numbness for 5 years and been through many departments and had MRI/PET SCANs - all clear. MS/Rheumatism/Lupus
