Let's change the way we're treated by adding metabolic therapy to SOC
Mostly cycling but now to counter SEs of
ADT
my focus shifted to resistance (variable) training and much less riding. I started in August with strict keto and limited proteins but month after DEXA body-comp scan showed big drop in muscle mass (along with fat, too!)

I've been on the full
ADT
regimen for two years, and while I have not been able to gain much muscle mass, I've kept what I started with a maybe firmed it a bit with weight training.

ASCO 2023 Poster: Androgen-deprivation therapy and risk of dementia in patients with prostate cancer:Clinical outcomes from real-world data.
Conclusion: This is the largest real-world study describing the association between
ADT
and the risk of dementia, including over 600 thousand prostate cancer patients. The risk of dementia was significantly higher in patients on
ADT
, with a 60% increased risk.

The importance of training your legs (if you can, of course)
Here's how:
- Hormonal Response:
Leg exercises, especially those that engage large muscle groups (like squats and deadlifts), can lead to an increase in the secretion of growth hormones ( and testosterone, but this is not the case on
ADT
).

Does kidney function get affected by this?
I am super frantic right now and have no idea if this is releated to the prostate cancer, or the
ADT
treatment or the radiation? No chemo given.. PSA undectable after radiation so was happy but this seems to be a new scare

Vitamin D again: High-dose vit D to attenuate bone loss in patients with prostate cancer on ADT, phase 2 RCT result
I take it for other reasons (and I am taking zometa) but this thing with vit D and bone loss is a never ending story…. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38520382/

ADT or not for favourable intermediate risk with SBRT
Currently on AS, have repeat tp biopsy in October, this is routine for AS.Treatment advice, if I choose is SBRT but no
ADT
due to CVD risk as I have chads score 2, had 1 previous stroke in Feb 18 with full recovery, diagnosed May 2020 with paroxysmal AF, had 1 episode since so low burden, bisoprolol

PSA Went Up After Start of ADT
I started
ADT
about two weeks ago and just received my second session of radiation. Prior to starting
ADT
, my PSA was .37 and a month prior was .22. I had blood drawn right after my first session of radiation yesterday and got the result back today. My PSA has gone up to .53. Is this normal

Thoughts on ADT with sRT?
Temporary
ADT
can lead to permanent testosterone loss in up to 30% of men. So when we compare sRT-only patients to sRT+temporary
ADT
, what we're really looking at is a mixed cohort, a part of which are effectively being treated with sRT+permanent
ADT
.

ADT Hot Flashes
I've been on
ADT
since Feb, 2023 maintaining everything ok, play Water Polo 4x a week for 2 hours - master water polo team and lift weights - but in the last few weeks the hot flashes are crazy strong. One minute I'm doing great and then 30 seconds later sweating bullets.

ADT and Tendon Pain
Now in my 3rd year of
ADT
(Eligard), which has also included 2 years of Abi + Prednisone. I had issues with my tendons for years before my PC, but the problem has worsened steadily with the PC drugs. I now have tendonitis in both feet, both achilles, a hip, wrist, elbow and shoulder.

Understanding the Threat of Micrometastases (also known as Minimal Residual Disease) in Prostate Cancer or Don't sweat the small stuff
From the article: It has been shown that
ADT
can eliminate bone marrow micrometastasis in approximately 80% of patients [173, 174]. So, when undergoing treatment, patients are attacking micrometastases and eliminating them... It is why there is an oligometastatic state.

T level test
They did not do a T level test before, so I am not sure what value it was prior to Surgery or Radiation /
ADT
. Willing to pay out of pocket - but if so, is it just total T that I get? I see a couple of different tests.

Taurine and ADT weight gain
One thing that many PCa endurers see occurring despite their best efforts is weight gain while on
ADT
. Does the community have any info on whether taurine can help, in conjunction with lots of exercise? I found a couple articles that it might.
