Hi I am a health care assistant and I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my hips. My GP prescribed nefopam and I thought nothing of it. Since starting the nefopam I have not been able to sleep. My main concern is that I have acute angle closure glaucoma and I am worried about what damage it might have caused my eye's.
nefopam and glaucoma : Hi I am a health care... - Pain Concern
nefopam and glaucoma
You are having problems with your eyes?
Yes blurry vision and sore head.
Is it the side effect of something you are taking or is it an illness?
It seems to have been a side effect, meds changed now thankfully.
Hopefully you will be ok now.
If you are concerned you need to seek medical opinions. If you are genuinely concerned re glaucoma then speak to 111. We are now on weekend so would need 111 to see a doctor. I am doubtful you have acute angle closure glaucoma because you would (usually) have extreme eye pain. If you did I have no doubt you would be heading off to a&e now!!It is far more likely you are having some reaction to new medications, which will either subside or you will need to stop taking tablets.
I must stress I am not a doctor or ophthalmologist. Therefore you really do need to seek medical opinion.
Bevvy thank you for your reply. Yes I know the pain relating to acute angle closure glaucoma because I have had it and it is not a one off thing. It is a life long condition you have to live with after laser surgery, performed while you are fully awake. I have been in contact with the GP and had the medication changed.
Any prescription med that prevents sleep isn’t a good choice. See your doctor and try something else.
A natural aid might be trying curcumin.
That’s great. I hope they help.
