Covid booster sorted. I spoke to my GP surgery today about my Covid booster as I couldn't book online. They checked and confirmed that the 3rd primary vaccine had been recorded as a booster by the vaccination centre. They promised to sort it within a week and get back to me. Twenty minutes later they rang to say it was reclassified on the system and I could go to the nearest centre immediately for my booster as they had rung them to arrange it!! Went, no queues, vaccinated and home within an hour of my original call to the GP. I feel exceptionally lucky to have such a caring GP practice, from doctors through nurses, physio and receptionists they are kind, caring and efficient. We read so many stories of disappointing practice I just thought I'd share some positive news.
Covid booster after 3rd primary vaccine.: Covid booster... - NRAS
Covid booster after 3rd primary vaccine.
Great news. I can’t face trying to sort it out yet.
I‘m still waiting to be called back by 119 digital records something Team as mine is incorrectly recorded, too. 🙄🙄 spoke with them last Friday and they said I would get called within 5 working days. No luck yet 🤞🏻 However my booster is due end of the month…
Fingers crossed it sorts soon. The vaccination centre was well organised and they were happy to slot me in when I explained what had happened, though I took along the letter identifying me as severely immuno suppressed in case they quibbled.
Yes, the digi whatchmacallit team are supposed to be sorting my records too “within 21 days” and my GP said all third vaccines were recorded as boosters (get lost in other words). Rheumatologist team said they would be sending me a letter to get my booster 🤞which is due end of this month 🤨
I haven‘t even managed to talk to them yet and need my booster at the end of this month. What a mess!Good luck!!
Excellent.I'm just coming up to 3 months since my 3 rd primary a d would like to have my booster.
Can I check that it is 3 months for 3rd primary to booster too, the same as everyone else ?
It is. I had my 3rd vaccine on 14th September. At 3 months it should be bookable online or by calling 119. My inability to do so stemmed from the 3rd vaccine being classified incorrectly when I had it. Good luck with booking yours.
That's good news, and that your dr's are so good. I'm lucky as my dr's are very good too. 😊 My 3rd vacine was also down as a booster even I said it should be a primary. My next one isn't due till January I'm it gets sorted by the.
I couldn’t book online either so I've been down to my Surgery this afternoon to try to sort it out. I wondered if it was possibly due to being told by my Surgery when they called to arrange a time that it was the booster I was going for on 18th Sept whereas the nurse who vaccinated me said it my was my third primary, Pfizer, confirmed on my card. I was concerned as on my GP electronic system it was still listed as a booster, why I went today. For some reason the receptionist was blocked from changing the booster to third primary or arrange an appointment for the booster. As she wasn't able to speak with either PM as both were in a meeting she said she'd contact me tomorrow. So I’ll see what's what then.
As the content of the third primary vaccination & the booster are the same & we have three months to sort out what a fourth jab will be called….by which time …. hopefully all the computers will be up to date….let’s just look forward to enjoying Christmas…not worry what Mr Jab is called.
As long as we have had the right number of jabs…we will be right!
I’m off for a Rtx infusion in January..so I’m not having my fourth jab until at least May/June.
My booster (4th jab) is due next week, so needs sorting. I booked for a booster online for 4th January, but will make sure it is ok before the Christmas holiday. My antibody response is poor, so I'm keen to get the booster as soon as I can. I may also need a med change soon so need the booster before that happens.
And there is omicron, doubling in less than 2 days now....scary, even although it might be milder. We are in a trickier position than last Christmas.
Not according to the receptionist as their records are incorrect. However, I’m confident she'll call back tomorrow as she's one that's on the ball.
This was the explanation of the vaccines from Zoe the biggest
Study on UK Covid vaccinations …...who in fact report their findings daily to the Government ……when the difference between a Booster & a Third Primary was being misunderstood.
Question : What is the dosage of the booster?
Answer: “ The booster is the same dose as 1st and 2nd dose of Pfizer.
Moderna will be half dose as it was stronger, if you’re immunocompromised and had the third primary dose, it’s the same dosage as the booster but you may be given it at a different time”.
Yes, the booster and 3rd primary are exactly the same. However if it is recorded as a booster when it is the 3rd primary, your records will say you have the booster and you will have a bit of untangling to do to get the booster. The terminology is important.
Yes of course it is…..… I don’t know about Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland but at the moment in England we have more than one computer system running, and they don’t talk to each other ….so until those systems are coordinated and have been checked they can’t be trusted to tell it how it is…but as long as people get a vaccination things are going in the right direction..I found the best bet was to ask for the clinician in charge of the vaccination session ….showed him my two little tickets from my two previous vaccinations, plus my letter from the hospital rheumatology department ….& I got my third primary no problem …& it was entered as such….but it was not that busy……I’m sure right now people are just given their vaccination given a receipt and sent on their way. Entries on the computer will be translated onto the joint database and hopefully everything will sort itself out…but for now getting jabs in arms is numero uno!
It's more about if the perimeters change, & of course I prefer my medical records to be accurate AC. At the moment it's anyone can arrange for the booster as long as it's been at least 3 months since your previous jab whichever number it is. Should it change to we need the booster more frequently, say every 6 months & others annually, then my records don't show that I had a third jab prior to my booster this time around so, as has proven to happen*, I (or anyone else in a similar situation) risk not been called as a priority & I'd need to chase it up again instead of being automatically called. Also, it's more common to check basic info (1st, 2nd, 3rd, booster) than text explaining why a person had what & when.
* I've just had to stop typing to take a call from a PM from my Surgery apologising for the oversight. Guess what, I wasn't listed as being a priority because my previous jab was a booster according to their records! Not only that, she also apologised for not getting back to me first thing as the the receptionist I saw yesterday said she would, she's spent the morning calling patients in the same category to offer appointments due to the same error! Appointment made for Monday afternoon & I will be seen individually, no need to queue round the block as my b-i-l had to do last week.
When I read your comment I thought oh great..3rd primary and booster are the same dose so that solves some of my confusion, BUT then why does it say this on the GOV.Uk Covid Vaccine site ?
The 3rd vaccine dose for people with a weakened immune system is different to a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose.
So do we a right to be concerned what Mr Jab is called?
Well if Tim Spectre &my rheumatologist think they are the same..& they are both wrong……we are all sunk! As we know…all these government sites are continually contradicting themselves…..but actually when you think about it….technically they contain the same…but clinically they are different because the immunosuppressed need a third primary vaccine to bring them level with someone with a normal immune system…then they can both get a booster…,but at different times.
Because my 3rd vaccine had been slotted in 2 weeks before my actual appointment date, a couple of weeksI later I decided to phone the vaccination centre just to check if my 3rd vaccine had been logged and I would I be contacted for a booster 6 months later, which was the gap between the two at the time. Yes, no problem, said the call handler after checking my medical records at the time...
Due to me being the eternal sceptic, I had some lingering doubts how genuine this call handler was, so I decided to phone the vaccination centre earlier today to check if my 3rd vaccine was logged as such and not a booster so as to avoid possible problems ahead. The call handler I spoke with today told me my 3rd vaccine has been logged as such and not a booster. I also asked her if a copy of a letter from my consultant stating I was immunosuppressed and should have the 3rd primary vaccine was included in my medical records, to which her answer was no. That's odd I said as my consultant informed me that my health board had been sent a letter and I had a copy of the same. At this point the call handler thought it best for her colleague to phone me back, which she duly did. I'm not sure exactly why, but it came as no surprise to be told that not only was there no consultant's letter, but neither was there a record of me having a booster or 3rd vaccine, just my first two vaccines. She then took details of my 3rd vaccine and said she would make sure it was included in my medical records.....fingers crossed for that!
Now, while I can understand how a mistake was made not logging my 3rd vaccine, after all it was mainly my fault for asking to be vaccinated before my appointed time, (that's another story) there is no excuse why I was given false information by not only the first call handler a couple of weeks ago, but today's call handler also told me my 3rd vaccine was logged in my medical records when it clearly was not! Also, as I'm CEV, you would think I would have been contacted before now if there was only the first two vaccines entered in my medical records, especially as the Welsh first minister keeps telling the public not to phone as everyone who qualifies for the booster/3rd vaccine will be contacted when it's their turn. Then again, perhaps my expectations are too high.
Once the computers have been updated everything will fall into place. It isn’t just a case of combining data…whichever system is going to be paramount will have to be checked & double checked & only then will staff be able to give correct information.
So give it time…….know that must be difficult if you are worried, but it’s best to wait until everything is correctly recorded!
That is very good. You are very fortunate when you read all the stories just now.
So am I right in thinking I need to call my GP (they are about as much use as chocolate tea pot) or 119 to get my third vaccine changed to third primary? (It’s currently logged as a booster on the NHS app). It’s saying on line we can’t book our 4th jab online and I wouldn’t be able to any way as my third is logged incorrectly. From previous experience my consultant and GP are very delayed, I got my letter from them around 3 weeks after I had actually had the 3rd primary. I’m due my 4th second week of January, I do not want to wait for them to get their paperwork in order as that will be February and my daughters are back at school/nursery in January. I’m also off a DMARD and on increased steroids so don’t want to wait as they are never on top of things!
Yep. GP, 119 to change vaccine record through digital service or your Specialist. What larks.
Thank you, I’ve emailed my GP and I’ll just keep chasing, if no luck I’ll call 119. Ridiculous quite frankly, I had to explain to my GP about a third primary in the first place, they had no idea what it was. It’s not hard to read the latest government advice in my opinion!
You are very lucky to have such a caring GP our are still unable to see patients or wait 8 weeks for a call back. They are a disgrace.
I'm sorry to hear that. Our GP surgery have done a lot of telephone consultation during the pandemic, but always ring back the same day and see you face to face if they think it's necessary. It's sad it's such a lottery in terms of the care on offer.
Thanks. It is really bad & going to get worse as all nurses are now doing vaccinations now. Hubby had to get very angry with them recently when I needed antibiotics & it’s on my record he was aggressive! Oops! It just makes everything more stressful than it needs to be. But 8 weeks or more just for a call back is not acceptable sadly 🙁
My GP practice that I had so much hoped would be better than the one I had left….does not “do’ Covid…no jabs …no info.Their answer phone message says if you are calling re CV19 vaccinations…to hang up & dial 119.
The surgery door is only opened when they see you have an appointment.
That is fine if you are somebody who can work the system…..but in this area the average age is in the 70’s & most people just won’t bother.
I only got my third primary by going to the vaccination centre & asking to speak to the clinician running the clinic,
Luckily my rheumy is very hands on with a brilliant secretary…so should I need any info I know I could I get it…but if you are normally quite healthy & don’t have a relationship with your doctor….you are stuck…with not a chance in hell of seeing a doctor…& I’m sure there are a lot of areas like this…where the average person has no idea what injections they should be getting,..not least because of all the muddled information being circulated by all the Government letters we receive….but if you aren’t’t in any system…you are on your own…& most people will just do nothing,…at 70+ they certainly won’t go,out & queue in the cold.
