I signed up at my Transplant Hospital to be one of the study participants in the hep C+ deceased kidney transplant recipients. The transplant doctor said it could be three days or 70 days until I receive a kidney, but it will not be waiting four more years on the Wait List. I was put on the Wait List in 2015 and I have been on dialysis since January 2016.
I had to get off some medications before I could be put on the transplant list. One was Eliquis, a blood thinner. I am in the middle of transitioning over to Warfarin. I also had to quit taking pantoprazole, an acid reflux medication. The nephrologist for the transplant center said that it interferes with the anti-rejection drug.
My transplant coordinator called Monday and said I am officially on the transplant list now. I am saying my prayers and packing my overnight bag!

Keep us informed. I speak to several groups each month about CKD and when asked questions about this and other issues I'm not following closer I have to take the information and get back to them. Any information you could provide either post it here or PM me and I'll pass it along when I get asked about it. Thanks.
Congratulations! Let's hope it's real soon. Please keep us all posted. This is a new idea for many of us. I have read some about it through the NKF. With so many people waiting for a kidney..... I had my transplant in 1999 when there was 65,000 people on the list and now something like 110,000. The success rate with Hep C kidneys is fantastic.
