10 Weeks Healed Post-Circumcision - Salt Washes, Random Stitch End, Post-Nut Soreness/Swelling.

Morning all, here I am again for another update on my healing post-circumcision. 10 weeks healed now and the new normal is continuing to sink in.

So, where am I? Overall, in a good place. Salt washes every other day have become a part of my routine since week 9 and are proving to be very good at removing any remaining dry skin and helping dissolve two random stitch ends that popped out round my frenulum (which was odd, but solved themselves the same day). The only real issue I had was post-nut soreness and swelling after a handy shandy that I'm convinced is a cauterised vein end that got irritated (3 days later it's far less sore and swelling has gone down a lot), I guess this is just part of the healing process as I've seen lots of people saying they experienced a bit of soreness and swelling after sex or masturbation a while after the op. Also, sensitivity of the head is basically gone. I wear underwear all day without any padding and am walking normally - only issue is tapping the head with a towel by accident while I drying off after a shower - that can still be like an alarm bell going off if I'm not paying attention (LOL). Anyway, let's break it down into the highlights.

Salt Washes - Why I wasn't doing these earlier once the outside healed, I'll never know. They're excellent, soothing and have helped remove lingering dry skin on the scar line. They also helped resolve two tiny little stitch ends on my frenulum that popped out all of a sudden. I saw them, did a salt wash, and they were gone. Boom, and the stitches are gone. I do them every other day as part of a post wash/shower routine. I've noticed my scar line is smoothing out since starting them and a lot of redness on the scar line itself has also started moving towards a more pinkish colour. It could just be that I'm healing at the same time or the salt washes are helping it along. Either way, I'm going to keep doing them.

Random Stitch Ends - These caused a bit of concern, one morning I noticed two tiny little stitch ends had popped out of my frenulum, where the last of the real swelling on my chap is located. However, a salt wash seemed to dissolve or remove them immediately and afterwards they were gone and I've nothing reappear at the site since. It's been a week now and I've not seen anything else pop out the scar line. It was a bit odd, but spitting bits of stitch material - especially dissolving stitches made of Vicryl - is a common side effect. I was told that the material can linger in the tissue for months as it dissolve - they lose a lot of tensile strength after 2 weeks and most of the visible external ends are gone within 6 weeks, but the body deals with the material for up to 6 months afterwards, and sometimes pushes bits it can't dissolve out. My urologist was not phased at all and told me it's all very common, so if anyone experiences it, don't worry. Did anyone else experience a bit of random late-healing stitch material spitting out at any point?

Post-Nut Soreness/Swelling - Well, it's a thing. You have a lovely handy shandy with Kenny G playing in the background and candles all round the room... pump pump SPLAT... then you have swelling and mild soreness for a few days. I've seen a lot of people saying the same thing about post-nut swelling and soreness. I've had it a few times now and not really been phased by it, but this time I had rather more pain just around an area I'm positive there's a vein end that was cauterised and it probably got a bit irritated. The soreness was worse in the first 24 hours, but has slowly resolved to 36 hours later feeling far less and nearly gone. Funnily enough, it only really hurts when I am flaccid, cos my morning boner the next day didn't hurt at all, nor have they since. I think it was swelling up with blood or lymph fluid while soft and floppy, or if I've been sat for too long. Any other swelling around other bits of my chap caused by the nut was gone within 48 hours (which I think is good going). Anyone else experienced pain around cauterised vein ends under the scar line post-nut?

So, there we go. As you can tell, I'm definitely at that stage of healing where it's only little annoying things that pop up from time to time, and my mood is very positive overall. It feels like natural healing process stuff, rather than upsetting setbacks. Would be keen to hear from others on the points above. I'm seeing my urologist for a follow-up on Thursday - nothing major, just he was keen to see his work and set my mind to rest about my progress.

Hope you're all well, and if anyone wants to shoot the proverbial or ask any questions, please comment or DM. If you wanna talk cock, let's talk cock.

Tom.

Hey Tom sounds like everything is going well for you and you sound in a good place. Like you I had a stubborn stitch or two near the frenulum that were reluctant to come out and went a bit hard and uncomfortable, but they did just suddenly disappear one day. Also like you the first few times I took care of things, my shaft was red and swollen afterwards and took a while to go back down.PS sounds like you spoil yourself with the music and the candles for your handy shandy haha

Hey bro, thanks for the comment. Yeah, overall, the healing seems to be going well. At week 12 I think I'll be feeling 2 weeks better than now in week 10 - I've learned through gritted teeth that patience and listening to my new chopper is the only way to get through this all. Those two stitch ends were so odd... just appeared, then I salt washed, then they were gone again. LOL. It has resulted in swelling at the frenulum going down a bit though, so they were obviously just being pushed out as rejected material. And yeah, the soreness is basically all gone apart from a tiny bit sensitivity where that vein end is. I am thinking it's just one of those problem areas that will resolve as it heals more. Other than that, I can't really complain. I had preputial adhesions on my glands that were also removed, aside from small scars you'd never even know they were there! The human body is amazing to have healed so much is less than 3 months!

Yeah my two stubborn stitches were exactly the same. As soon as they came out the swelling round my frenulum gradually lessened. I had adhesions as well and you'd never know apart from a nasty one that reattached but I just ignore it as I don't want my cock cut again. Good luck my man and I'll wait for the next chapter!

I feel quite lucky that my adhesions didn't return. They were quite dense. Don't blame you about not getting cut again, it's not something I would do again in a rush. How long has it been for you now?

4 years for me so it's kind of forgotten about. My adhesions were quite bad as well and ny consultant did warn me about them reattaching but luckily it's only the one

So I've had Phimosis all my life and had skin discolouration around the tip of the foreskin, went to see my doctor about the discolouration and said he needs checking as it could be cancerous, which obviously freaked me out. Had my Urologist referral today, nothing cancerous thankfully, but stated I need a circumcision which I kind of knew, but now I've got the worry about the procedure and recovery time, what is the pain like? I'm on my feet all day at, so I will probably have at least 2 weeks off work, when is it comfortable to be able to start walking around? I also need dilation as well due to my opening becoming narrow due to my phimosis, has anybody had to have this.

Relieved to hear you got the all-clear, bro. Taking time off is the best thing to do, to be honest - two weeks off at least will be brilliant (I ended up getting 3 weeks off thanks to a doctor's note from my urologist), but you'll want to take it easy with fast movement and heavy lifting to at least the 6-8 weeks mark until you heal externally. For me - a 40-year-old man - pain in the first week was manageable with standard pain relief, and I was able to waddle about by the end of the first week. The pain died down in week 2 to be replaced with uncomfortableness and swelling as the main enemies. I then started wrapping up with sterile swabs, surgical pants and vaseline into weeks 3-6 and by week 7 was back in underwear (microfibre seamless briefs). The procedure - especially if you have general anaesthetic - is the easy bit, the healing process is what it's all about. And we all heal at different rates. We're all here when it happens, you got this, and don't hesitate to contact us or post here.

Really appreciate your feedback, 42 years old to be told you need a circumcision, it kind of hits you. The procedure itself does not worry me, like you say its the recovery and the things you need to do to help it heal. I'm actually looking forward to being able to finally see my glans and to be able to clean it properly. My waiting time is 3 months for the procedure.

I'll admit this here... I totally freaked out about the op and focussed all my energy on it, without giving proper thought to the recovery. I wish I'd known about this forum before I had the operation, because it's been a life-saver since. However, I had phimosis and adhesions, I could roll back when flaccid, but not when erect, and when I did roll back my foreskin was stuck to my glands in 2 places on the right side - I was going to have to have this op at some point. At 10 weeks, boners look amazing, to the point where my wife calls it the 'porn star cock', which does wonders for my self-esteem, and there's no shame attached to my fella anymore - he looks clean, proud and ready to carry on healing. This is not an operation to have for aesthetic reasons, we do it because we have to for better quality of life. You got this.

What a great read and response that is. My condition sounds exactly the same, I have a couple of adhesions on the right as well, the only difference is, I can't even retract when flaccid. I am more prone to getting infections as obviously I can't clean the glans properly. I'm lucky enough to have never had a infection or that I know of, my Urologist said my condition can't be cured other than having the circumcision, he also said after the op that my glans will eventually return to its normal colour, which I'm looking forward to. My wife has been so supportive, looking forward to showing her the new fella.😅. The only worry I have is the recovery.

You'll be amazed how quickly the small wounds on your glands will heal when the adhesions are removed. You'd hardly know I had them - just got a cool star-shaped scar and little wibbly one left as reminders. Yeah, sounds like circumcision is the best way forward for you... my doc said he could solve the phimosis with steroids (possibly), but then I'd still have the adhesions - circumcision was my only way forward. God bless our wives - I don't know what I'd have done without her. She made everything simple and easy from the start - there for the love and nurturing, there to tell me my cock looks amazing, there to give me a cuddle when I felt down, there to give me my first BJ without a foreskin. I mean, can you ask for more?

Brilliant, it makes a massive difference when you have a very supportive wife. Like I said my wife has been amazing right from when I went to the doctors in February, she has really been there for me. I'm sure there will be bumps along the way with my recovery, but I know she will be there for me. After I've recovered I'm sure my old penis will be a distant memory

You know the one major thing this forum taught me? I thought my phimosis and adhesions meant I was a freak and I was deeply ashamed of my penis. But, I know now that I'm not alone, there are thousands of men like me. And a lot of us end up here having this operation. And I feel better.

Bburn profile image
Bburn in reply to Arclight1979

I've never been ashamed of my penis, because I've always had phimosis and never had an issue until recently I wouldn't of thought there was a problem. I'm now actually looking forward to getting the procedure done. Like you said, this forum is brilliant.

I always felt acutely aware that there was something wrong, because I could roll it back while flaccid, but with a bit of tightness and then the adhesions would stare me in the face. I guess that it never looked odd while flaccid, but I was really conscious it wasn't normal. I had a lot of sex during uni, but never forged serious relationships until my wife. I pushed a lot of women and men away because of the shame.

I'm glad that you all ok and that you are happy with the outcome of the procedure. Looking forward to my new penis😅
