you need to read the online research and decide for yourself. This seems to indicate it won’t prevent AMD but may delay the progression of intermediate or advanced AMD.
Your primary care physician or eye care provider is in the best position to advise you on how treat your AMD. You may wish to discuss AREDS/AREDS2 supplements with your health care providers to decide which, if any, supplements are right for you.
I've got wet AMD in my left eye and dry in my right. I was told my hospital it won't help the wet eye but it does help the dry eye.
When I was initially diagnosed 6 years ago the doc I saw suggested I take macushield but since then others have said it doesn’t always help so I hedge my bets and occasionally take a much much cheaper product which I get online (3 for 2) from Vitabiotics - Bilberry, Lutein and Zeaxanthin. Research doesn’t seem to have conclusive results that it works though so maybe save your money! Hope that helps
