Hi zainey-lainey

This therapy involves the delivery of 100% oxygen inside a treatment chamber at a pressure greater than sea level.

Best wishes

Hi eddyins,

Thank you for your question and for raising this interesting subject.

As you may know Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has been used for many years to treat decompression illness (the bends) and it is increasingly becoming recognised as therapy for other conditions.

To date we are not aware of any widely acknowledged, conclusive research that proves Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to be beneficial for Traumatic Brain Injury or Stroke.

It certainly seems that this is an area of therapy where further research would be beneficial.

We always try to keep abreast of developments in treatments and care of brain injury and would be happy to discuss this with you if you would like to call our helpline.

The telephone number for the helpline is: 0808 800 22 44.

Best wishes

Headway.

hI I heard a some find it helpful, which is why I tried it, but tobe honist, it had no effect on me at all, only that because i had a slight cold and my sinuses were slightly blocked which caused me to have pain in my ears and forehead, so asked to come out of ied researching it onlineit would do you any harm, i tit, but i think everyones experience of it is different, I wouldnt of tho u any harm thought it could definately say if its sourrdmthing you want to try, which i did having hope in somthing im still constantly looking online to see if i can find somthing to help, imail also came across a man called john wilson green, on youtube, so i emis callaild him, asked his cost etc, he said it was free and would come to me to do it,but unfortunately, he was unable to do that and so phoned me instead, which seemed like a hypnosis method to me,from having a SAH just over two years ago now, i was desperate to try anything to help me altho physically it hadnt had any improvement, altho my fits have become less frequant, which had started from my stroke which has had a very dble to drive because of it. has had ver depressing.impact on, due to not being able to drive through the fits, ;-( anyhow, the choice to have the hyperbaric treatment can only be your choice, it may help you alot and be very different to me. if you use your local headway group they will let you know how to go about, and where to go etc and mention it to your consultant too just to get there opinion, mine was actually fine about it, altho he say it was a bit hit and miss, ie, it works for some but not everyone, which is a true account. what ever you choose to do, i wish you well and hope it works for you, altho i strongly advice find your local Headway group, as they can help and advise you thru it, good luck and godbless, denise xx
