Yes they do and many have recovered full function. Being the same person as you were however will change. Give us all the lowdown on your BI.

I know very little about my TBI, strangely. I've lost all memory and I'm partially disabled,

Looks like Andrew T shares some similarities and has got good advice.

Hello again, 100% yes but as Pinkvision said, you almost definitely won't be the same person as U once were.

Learn t love the person U are now.

Even now, almost 28 years later I do see improvement, nowhere nearly as much as I did in the first 5 / 10 years, but some...

Are U physically disabled or in what way, other than the usual problems we all suffer after a head injury, are U disabled ???

Use stick to walk and have total memory loss.

I only had total memory loss for about 5 months after the accident & I was in hospital during that time, but my memory is very poor.

Do U have any memory at all ???

The best way to describe it is to take a vase and smash it. Glue it back together.

The vase looks the same but it’ll never be exactly like it was

Hi Radelagun,

They do improve but it’s a slow process and as per the below comments - the same person you were will change. Good analogy by Spideyman about the vase. Good luck with your recovery and I hope you get all the help you need 🙂

In my experience they do improve a certain extent. I was left with severe brain injury (ataxia) in 2009. Following months of rehabilitation I learned to live independently. I got married in 2013. First child 2015, second 2016. I drive and I work 20 hrs a week. So from where I was in 2009 to where I am now it's a huge improvement. Saying that almost every minute of every day is a challenge. Improvement can happen but its hard work.
