Dear All,

Can I ask everyone, to please, Spare A Thought for 'Folk'- of any Nationality- effectively 'Stuck' Miles/ Kilo Meters from home. A few have written on this- or a related- Forum. Will you take 'A minute, or two, to Offer A Prayer, for their safe return, please?

Thank you, on behalf of the 'stranded'.

Hi Andrew, we are stranded in Tenerife but it’s warm and comfy and the services I have experience from the N H S is first class. Also No shortage of food or wine and plenty of toilet rolls in the shops.

The police are checking people when they are out and we can only go to the shops or medical so it’s taking it day by day. Please everybody stay safe we are all in the same boat no matter where we are. God Bless Us All Love Liz xxx 🌹🙏

Dear Liz,

The only 'Saving Grace' is, I suppose, that there ARE Worse places, to be Stuck, than Tenerife. I don't know, quite what, 'facilities' are open (I doubt the swimming pool, for example)…. You did Mention Food, Wine and Loo Rolls- that's half a Party, at least- so Chin UP👍.

Both the NHS and the UK Government are, well aware, of your situation and, I'm sure, WILL 'Get You home' as soon as practically possible.... They have already managed to return, our Folk, from Italy. (mind you, that was a few days ago)

So 'Hang In' there Liz, all our thoughts- and Prayers- are with you.

Hi Andrew all pools and beaches are closed.

Because I am disabled my husband is allowed to drive me anywhere but if I was NOT disabled then you are only allowed to drive yourself without a passenger. Also shopping, it’s only one person allowed in the shop unless you are disabled and then you can go but only two, everyone has to use the sanitiser, and we also have to wipe the handles with the disinfectant. Most food is plentiful, shelves have most things, staff are amazing and the orderly lines of people in all shops are awesome people are so kind and no pushing and NO problems"

I went to the hospital today and had my leg redressed by a mail nurse who was so kind, He wanted me to go upstairs to make an appointment with the doctor to get a prescription and I felt lost and alone as my husband was NOT allowed to accompany me so Bless His Heart he saw I was distressed and came with me and spoke to the receptionist who told me to go the room19 but I fact it was room 20, so I was then seen by a lady who gave me a prescription and I was warned that the chemist may not have it ( TRUE) But will pick it up tomorrow and then see the nurse at 6.00 in the evening. I have no idea what it is but it must be a stronger medication to heal my leg. Please take care and thank you for your kind words God Bless You All, Love Liz xx🙏🌹

Seems you're in a safer place compared to here m'love. I'm supposed to be self isolating owing to age and underlying conditions but thought I'd risk the supermarket after they'd quietened down. So 9.30pm last night I hurried to Tesco for potatoes and bananas only to find the vast fruit and veg. area totally bare. (Mornings are a nightmare of crowds with the mentality of locusts ! )

I rushed across to Sainsbury.....same ; then Aldi....same. Bananas are the only fruit I can tolerate so it's just another case of 'Tough !' It's chaos with schools closing after today and working parents worrying about what to do with their kids...… and just continuous half-baked waffle from Boris, but with nothing definitive.

.................I could go on Liz 😯

Of course I do sympathise with your 'detainment' but glad to hear you're somewhere more organised and civilised than England. Take care m'love ; hope you're not feeling too cooped up.... Love Cat x

I'm in Norway but the shops are full and everything seems very calm generally. I'm just not sure what's going to happen about me getting back to the UK. But I'm staying with family so if it turned out that I can't get back for some time it wouldn't be too bad.

Hi. Cat, reading your update and reading the news paper (daily mail) I am shocked at the greed of the British people and they say they are poor it makes me so 😡 In Tenerife every shop is full of quality food and bananas ( I wish I could get them to you ) it’s greed and a total disrespect of the normal people who only want a weekly shop. People should be made to stand in a line and wait until a few people are allowed into the shop to buy food and having to wait for an hour or longer would STOP all this pushing and fighting over the food. In Tenerife Disabled people and the older generation are treated with respect and allowed into the shops without standing in a line.

The flight we were supposed to be on on Thursday ( second flight) has also been cancelled so it’s a waiting game. But from what I have seen in the U.K. maybe we are better off staying in Tenerife.

Please keep safe and I do hope you get your bananas 🍌 after all it’s not a lot to ask for so God Bless You Love Liz xx🌹🙏

Ha ha… I love your humour Liz, especially welcome in troubling times. I hope the goodness of less selfish folk will rise to the top but not holding out much hope at present.

However, there's at least one kind hearted couple from somewhere down the road (never met them) who've pushed notes through doors with tel. no. offering to shop/collect prescriptions etc. for free, for those self isolating. So quite heartening.

I believe there are early morning slots at supermarkets for vulnerable/older folk but the all-nighters are closing earlier, so it's bye-bye to my late night runs where Tesco was virtually empty apart from shelf fillers.

Oh well.....a good time to see what canned stuff is lurking at the back of the kitchen cupboards. 🙄

So yes, m'love, sit tight where you are for now, if possible. I hope things will start to improve here when Boris & co. get their act together.

Stay safe Liz …….. this is a holiday you won't forget, for sure ! xx

Hi Ric. Yes I've thought of Farm shops and smaller shops but, everywhere I've tried, it seems others have beaten me to it, and huddling in queues really defeats the object. It's an unprecedented problem for those like ourselves who daren't risk either infecting ourselves or our loved ones.

My daughter, who's very outgoing and used to a busy working week with many staff, is now working from home and feels she needs to isolate herself and my grandson as she's a single parent with concerns about childcare if she's ill, and with no-one to step in.

I do hope we can both find ways of accessing provisions without all this stress & uncertainty. I'm sure there are those who think our fears are hysteria (namely those in crowded pubs & cafes who I've seen when passing by on late night shopping trips) but they're not in our shoes are they ?

I've never watched so much Netflix ! But I've taken to nighttime walks with my partner or driving to secluded beauty spots in the daytime.

My sincerest best wishes to you and your wife Ric, with hopes for better support soon. Cat x
