Hi razyheath43,

Welcome here. Unfortunately I have no experience of this issue however I am sure that there is bound to be someone here that will pop up with information.

You could also contact headway directly and get advice or contacts from them as well.

Take care

Sporan

Hello. I don't come on very often, but just happened to see your message. My husband had a SAH and stroke October 2012, and had a large part of his skull removed at the time. This was left until around July 2013 before the bone was replaced. It was worrying for those few months and he used to wear a special helmet, made for him via the re hab hospital he was in. It looked strange, as half of his head was obviously misshaped and people used to stare, as of course there were big scars. But once the bone was replaced, it all healed up quite quickly and his hair almost covers most of the scars. It is not quite as it was, and he has a "lumpy bit" near his ear, which apparently is fluid. Sometimes he feels some soreness where he thinks the screws are just under the scalp, but on the whole it is not a problem to him. As we always say, he is still here, so if he has a "funny shaped" head so be it!!

You don't say if your husband is going to have his bone replaced? Sometimes it is replaced with titanium plate if the bone has not been successfully retained, but I think this is just as good.

I hope this helps, and if you want to ask any more questions, please do message me. We are in Leicestershire now, but his operations and re hab were carried out in Hull, as we lived in East Yorkshire at that time.

Best wishes, Molly
