Hi wonderful souls

I've just received my MRI results after being diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis.

I know from previous posts that there is a few magical people on here who can examine the results. Would somebody mind helping me as I simply don't understand some of the terminology and my joint clinic (specialist center) appointment is 4 weeks away xx

oh I wish I was an expert on terminology but I’m not. I sometimes Google search the phrases for context and, if the results come from a reputable site, I go with it.

Hi, so my understanding would be that you have:

A bulky (enlarged) uterus which is tilted forward (anteverted).

Endo plaques on the posterior surface (towards the back) of uterus.

With scar tissue (adhesions) and infiltrating the left ovary.

Right endometrioma (dark fluid filled cyst within/on the ovary). With sticky scar tissue adhering it to the colon- on the last part of your colon that connects to the rectum.

Left endometrioma with blocked fallopian tube (hydrosalpinx).

Both ovaries are stuck to the uterus towards the upper back section.

I think the 'collapsed' bladder is describing that the muscles and tissues that support the bladder have given way. And it looks like it's stuck to the uterus (likely adhesions).

Nabothian cysts are small mucus-filled bumps on the uterus.

Unremarkable = no concerns/nothing to comment on.

Overall: Deep infiltrating endometriosis (where the disease invades below the tissue surface), involving the colon, bladder wall and endometriomas on both left + right sides and with a blocked fallopian tube.

I hope this helps a little before you can chat through it all at your appointment 🙂 x

I can't express my gratitude to you for taking the time to do this. It makes much more sense now! I really hope they have a plan for this as I can't pass my bowels or bladder without excruciating pain :( you are so kind and thank you so much xxx

Hopefully I've not gone too far wrong! I'm sure they will have a plan, i suspect they will recommend surgery to try and alleviate the pain and other symptoms. It sounds really rough what your going through, hoping they can bring some relief for you. I think your situation would likely meet the 'complex' criteria for a referral to a BSGE centre if that's something you'd like

bsge.org.uk/centre/category...

They are accredited specialist centres that can deal with severe endo x
