Decent checkup....

Two years of dealing with PD, checkups are always stressful and annoying. Today I had botox injections into my left arm. Before the treatment Dr Bortan noticed I had less stiffness. She asked how I was feeling. I commented that I finally found the 'sweet spot' for the Rytary treatments. I'd found that five hours after a treatment my double vision comes back. Shortly after a second treatment the double vision subsides for another five hours. She was pleased.

Then I had acupuncture with a different doctor. He put the needles in then turned on an mp3 player. I recognized Carlos Nakai playing. Carlos Nakai is a native American from the four-corners region of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah. He plays a hand-made wooden flute. I have several of his albums. I relaxed and listened to the music. When my time was up the doc helped me look for needles that had fallen out. Then we talked about continuing treatments and he recommended Tai Chi classes that the hospital was starting soon.

Maybe I'm mellowing. Maybe the acupuncture helped. Maybe age has made me less stubborn. I've always known that I'm not too bright. But I did well in school and had a successful veterinary practice because I'm stubborn.

Stubborn beats brains any day of the week.
