I've been diagnosed with fibrosis stage three ,and I am trying to get my head round the whole thing.

I've been told I've got a fatty liver plus using alcohol,

I didn't think I drunk that much and I've learnt there is a stigma

if you get a liver disease you're an alcoholic.

Questions

I would like to ask I've been feeling a lot of burning sensation and I'm not sure if this is to do with the diagnostic of stage three or the medication that I'm using .

I've received more information through the and the liver trust telephone helpline and I got through the NHS they've not got the time , the liver trust have empathy and explain everything in great detail and give the time and under standing.

I looked at all the details on the Internet and when you look at it, it's a bit frightening to be honest. But the day-to-day living with the disease.

it told you that you won't have any appetite sickness et cetera but I don't seem to have these issues at the present time all I have is feeling aches and pains and not itchy skin but it a burning sensation and my arms and legs.

I've been told that I will have to be kept under surveillance so I wonder if anybody has the same issues as me would appreciate if somebody would answer this.

I have all way gone straight at problem but this time it not that easy 😂

Sorry about the photograph. I'm not very good on the old computer and I couldn't find an appropriate one to use at the time and I ended up loading photograph. I do not wish to break any of your protocols because you've been very helpful with the telephone helpline and the information that you have passed it was totally a mistake on my part and not intentional. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction and removing it. I had difficulty trying to do that and I couldn't get it off when I realise I had made a mistake but as I said, your team and the telephone helpline has been very helpful and give me information that I can pass to my GP and surgery so that they can help me with my diagnostic and also telling me about changing my diet and the exercise will help reduce the chance of getting any worse obviously will not totally repair the damage that has been caused as I said again, sorry for misunderstanding and doing something wrong on the old computer. I'll do my best to make sure I don't make that mistake again respectfully Offlander56.

Dear Offlander

Do not worry about the photograph, it's one of the joys of technology, mistakes are easily made.

Looking for answers

Hi

I am also going through this as I am on a trial study . This is where I found out that I am stage 3 Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. I do get the itching although it might be different with others? Do you have a dry mouth as I have it all the time? The trial that is looking at me is a 7 year deal although it is going quite quickly as I am now going for the mid liver biopsy? The other side effects might very as I feel very tired and lethargic which is very frustrating when you know that you have to do something and you don’t have any energy. So you are not alone with this.

Blessings to you

Thank you for your reply.

I had a normal scan and then told that I should reduce my levels of alcohol then I had the fibre scan. That is the one that tells you how bad your liver is scarred and fatty ,then I was told stop all alcohol and then spoke to trust and they gave me a lot more information.

If you want information from the NHS, I'm afraid you have to dig for it and I am in the process of getting another blood test for my liver to see if it has got worse or staying at same level. I've done lots of things in life and had some scares, that I find this one quite difficult when you've reached an age where you just think everything is going along quite nicely. But lot of it is my fault. I can't deny it but my actual diagnostic is a fatty liver, with scarring and was is misuse of alcohol that made a big contribution but when you're younger you think you're immortal.

Thank you very much for answering and I wish you all the luck in the world with your trial and what's happening.

Thanks for your reply, my fatty liver is due to being overweight and having diabetes type 2 and arthritis in my knees and hips now in my back. I am going in July for my biopsy and hopefully going to be told that it’s the same and not getting worse?

Blessings to you

yes I’ve been told that I’ve got to lose weight change my lifestyle and hopefully the situation will not get worse. I had a blood test today and now I’ve gotta sit tight wait for the result and hopefully it is not got worse at the moment most of my symptoms are psychological and worrying I’ve not lost weight but I’ve been told I need to lose weight and I’ve been told I need to change the lifestyle and give up drinking totally I haven’t had any alcohol in 3 1/2 months. I wish you all the best with your next stage , respectfully

Thank you for your reply.

I've been dealing with it for awhile but I wasn't told the full diagnosis till this February. Unfortunately the medical terminology is not explained to you very well by the NHS they have a lot of issues at the moment staffing levels under funding, et cetera the only people that explained everything in full detail to me was the UK trust liver?, helpline, even though in my late 60s it's still gives you anxiety and I've done most of the investigations and finding out about it through the liver trust and online.

Some of the online things are a little bit scary to be truthful but as I said the liver trust has put a lot of it into perspective yes you still have a grey skies hanging above you but up wards and on wards👍
