Are people now advised to take Bisoprolol, at bedtime , if on 10 mgs or more , is the general advice to split the dose half in morning half at night.

Best time to take Bisoprolol. Morning or Night.
Dear you,
I was advised to take the drug Bisoprolol in two doses { in my case } 2.5mg in the morning and repeat in the evening, this is how it was prescribed to me. { and always has been even on a lower dose }
I would check first with your Dr/Health team before splitting the dose your self
Good luck with it all
Hello
What does it say on the wrapping ? just looked at mine and it just says " One to be taken each Day " It doesn't say split it in half, or take it at Night so I would ask your GP or prescribing source for an answer.
I only take mine at Lunchtime it is 7.5mg when I was on 10mg I used to take it in the Morning and on a Holter it showed my Heart Rate dropping to 33 during the Night so I moved to Lunchtime seems to have sorted that out.
Not much help I know but it is a question for a professional
Regards
Yes your input is a help and your right I have never asked the question myself just presumed { how wrong we have been before doing that } because it was prescribed as two doses a day then that was it.
Will bell my pharmacist, as for the moment I have a touch more faith in her knowledge than I do battling my Drs surgery for an answer.
I started { so many moons ago it seems} } on 1.25 mg of this drug once a day, then went to 1.25mg twice a day, then that was raised to 2.5mg twice a day with the look of upping it still further to 5mg twice a day after blood tests.
Have been "lucky" that any side effects have been mild { so far }
Keep on taking care
I was told definitely in the morning by my cardiologist and another heart specialist as your heart needs it more while your awake going about your daily routine than when your asleep.
More and more curious but excellent reason, thank you
That’s what I thought , I take mine in the morning , but was advised to rest for a few mins , not shoot out of bed to the shower. So many people are on low dose now I just wondered what the new advice was , as BP meds are supposed to be more effective taken at night.
Well have just spoken to the Pharmacist,
She says that its not unusual to have the dose split and has noticed it more with clients she has { me included } that have pacemakers { keep forgetting I have one } but is unsure why that would be, maybe { she said } to keep the dose more constant in the body?
She agreed with what you said about the dose moving to an evening one as it seems to be most effective taken then, but she can only follow what a Dr has prescribed and how it is taken
So no great reveal there I am afraid, have appointment later in the month with Heart Nurse will ask her.
Take care
I have always been toldvto take mine I the morning? I always used to take it at night .
I was started off on Bisoprolol when in hospital. They gave me 2.5mg with my breakfast at 8am and another 2.5mg with dinner at 6pm. I have continued that routine since but I don't know the logic
Hi. I took mine AM as per instructions. However found it made me dizzy in later day. Spoke with cardiologist who advised me to change to taking it at night. Much better and much less dizzy when going from sitting to standing.
I have had the same experience. When I was on 3.75mg I took it in the morning and had dizziness and an impending feeling of doom each evening. I got the dose lowered to 2.5mg, then again to 1.25mg. I still occasionally get dizzy after sitting for a while when my pulse rate drops into the 40s. At no time has anyone suggested me taking it in the evening.
Same here. I'm on 5mg Twice a day and have been for years. Also take 4mg Doxazosin twice a day plus other meds so I tend to spread them out during the day leaving about 12 hours between each dose.
