Hot flushes

Does anyone else get hot flushes ? They are driving me mad and wondered if it's to do with the AF ? I am 62 so not the normal reason lol xx

Yes, I do. Hot flushes were the only side effect that I experienced during the menopause which occurred in my early 50s. I still get them nearly 20 years later and I do think that they are linked to my AF.

I have mild AF right now and have had 2 quick hot flushes in the last hour.

Thank you Jenny I hadn't seen anyone mention them but iv only had them recently so thought they must be related but will mention them to the consultant along with a million other things when I eventually see her x

Went through change early due to hysterectomy and ovaries removed. Had mega flushes which HRT sorted. After some years stopped them was fine. Then AF brought back what I call my melts

I was very lucky and sailed through the change so this is quite a new experience for me but good to know I'm not the only one Xx

I am 73 so well past the menopause I have been experiencing night sweats which wake me up and am on Amiodorone and Atenolol I mentioned this to my GP but he made no comment!

I also get hot flushes that wake me up several times a night. My afib and hot flushes started around the same time I began the menopause and for five years I was told by several doctors that both were a symptoms of the menopause. Was diagnosed with afib last June but I'm still being told that my hot flushes are down to the menopause two years after finishing it!!

I'm 69 and get "hot flushes" when I first lie down in bed every night - soon passes but bedding gets thrown everywhere!! Finding breathing exercise keeps me calm and it then passes. Have experienced occasionally when I have needed to pee but cant get to a toilet e.g. on a car journey - but that could be panic!!!

I am the same when I need to go it has to be immediate and have taken to wearing towels just incase ! Doesn't get any easier does it and I need to drink loads as that seems to help the AF 😒

My menopause didn't stop until I was about 63 (about 12 years). I now have what I call heat surges which happen 3 or 4 times a day (especially in the evenings). These are listed as a side effect of the calcium channel blocker that I take (diltaizem). The heat is concentrated in my head and face and The pressure builds up in my head until it feels like it will burst, my face flushes and I find the nearest thing I can lay my hands on to fan myself until it stops. It's over fairly quickly but can be very debilitating.

I have not tried to changed meds as I am of the opinion that most of AF drugs have side effects and it could be worse!

I only take Biprosodol and Rivaroxaban for the AF but also take Losartan for BP Simvastatin for Cholestral CO-codomol for Arthritus and Emozul for a gallbladder operation that went wrong and I now have stones in my liver 😒 so am wondering if it's a combination of all the pills

I have been given Flecainide as a pill in the pocket but am reluctant to take it unless I'm desperate xx

At 62 I think it could possibly still be hormonal sweats but maybe the meds you are taking don't help. Here's hoping it is hormonal and they finish soon.
