Late post as I took a Redeye at 10pm outta HNL and landed in LAX at 6am today. Then drove up, took a nap and saw pm patients😃
Monday I did the Diamond Head hike, and there were others out there with the HNL Tee on - Crazy Marathoners!!😆
Parked at Kapiolani Park, where the Finish line was, since I was at the atop Diamond Head, I wanted a pic at the floor.
Got Mom Shrimp curry for lunch, she so wants to be independent that she refused my help with the walker - she did great! Dinner was the same, soft gau gee noodles, her nurse said my Mom really liked it. Picked up salmon for a snack omw to the Honolulu City Lights, also stopped in Waikiki for more pix.
I'm so jazzed to be able to do dentistry and build in QoLing time for Beach Therapy, hikes, and of course Food Glorious Food tho, taste buds are a lil outta whack from chemos.
Us Croakers need to build in QoLing to offset the SEs, and The Blues
Now that's some serious hardware. You did fantastic. When is your next run/walk? Here's a pic of my small collection of medals to date. Happy to hear your mom is doing well.
Mahalo my Sista and awesome for you getting out and doing events - it benefits physically and emotionally. I'm still doing virtual events from theconqueror.events/all-cha... and currently in London. Someday I gotta get to Canada and do one. I think that there's a marathon that crosses from the US into Canada and back to the US - probably has a time limit tho.
Yes, so grateful that my Mom is better than last December when I was home💙
Awwww Mahalo Dawn💙 I'm so #Blessed to still be here 9 yrs on and I'm just tryna bring Joy/Inspiration/Encouragement to my Bruddahs and Sistas to distract from the nasties of PCa and the SEs
May you and your Family have a Lovely Holiday season
Oh, beautiful. I used to vacation on Glen Lake up there when I was a kid....this was 60+ years ago. I still miss the area. My sister lives in Mancelona!
You're Welcome, that view never gets old for me. It's always been my thing to do on my trips home, dunno if I ever did as a kid or teen LoL. So now it takes me being a Tourist to climb it.
If you have a set of VR googles ( I have the first Quest 1 ) , you can take the entire Diamond head tour , step by step .. flat field, scary suspended walkways , gun turret, platform and upper room ….all of it . It’s in the travel app. The pyramids of Giza, Eiffel tower, Great Wall of China, Sydney, Australia … nearly any place on the planet. Extremely realistic, breath taking , jaw dropping…. All from your living room. Modern VR is totally immersive, so real you can almost feel the tradewinds . 😂. Plus while you are in the “ reality “ , it provides really good pain management. Just fyi …
You know, I think you may have commented on this travel app as a pain management tool a year or more ago? I never did look into it fully, but I will now. Thank you very much!
Hi Beth … UCSF S.F Benioff, Children’s Hospital pioneered this , initially, for pain management in Children in the hospital. My wife , the hammer, demoed them for UCSF at conventions and continuing medical education seminars for several years before she retired. That’s how I came to discover they work in adults too. Her kiosk display was VERY popular, doctors, and administrators lineup ,dozens deep , to get a chance to try them out. The travel app is just one of dozens of highly entertaining apps for the VR goggles. Totally Immersive games like Shadow Point, the room, red matter, and Quill ( and many more ) are so realistic they absorb your consciousness entirely.
I use them seated on a revolving office chair to be able to look around and behind myself better. I mention them occasionally for new members and to remind others that might have forgotten. Modern day VR goggles are well developed and stunning to use. Quest 3 brand and model are a good choice.
Yes, I do remember that this original post was yours because I remember that your wife did the demos for UCSF. That's very cool. I had not forgotten but now I have more info.
wait a minute! Im over here eating dry whole grain bread and broccoli. Every post your talking linguicia or pork char siu or something else greasy and delicious. What am I doing wrong?
Hi, I was back home and indulging in local foods that I haven't had since I was last home in Dec 2022. Normally I fast for 16 hours from 9 pm to 1pm the next day. I have black coffee in am and sip a tomato based veggie, garlic, ginger, curry broth.
Meals are mostly plant based with lean proteins, a rainbow of colors of fruits/veggies, whole grain pasta, whole wheat bread. I do an am workout, a prebreak fast workout and an evening hike. In my case this has served me well for the last 9 years with #stageivpca - Individual results may vary 😁
Build into your meals a treat of whatever guilty pleasure food you dig. j-o-h-n would say two scoops of Chocolate Chip, I think😜
Thank you, I'm new. I have been an ascetic eater and intermittent faster since june. Thanks to your inspiration I'm looking forward to a slice of chocolate cake saturday night.
