Hey y'all, been off HU for a bit - two weekends ago my 89 yr Aunt in Irvine fell and her neighbors called me - my # is on Aunt's front door, I drove down and spent a couple nights there. She did fine the next day, but a total 180 the next and two nights later she passed. She's at Peace now🙏
This last Saturday, I got big miles in for my Make a Wish 28 mile thingie, tho due to poor turnout, it got postponed and surprise😜, I made my own to do on my Bday in May up here on the PCT.
Sunday, saw The Wiz at the Pantages with the same lady from Tina and the Journey concert 😁
Drove to the Hollywood Reservoir for a hike and didn't notice that LA DWP locked the gates at 5pm. 😱 But, they were very nice and let me get to my car😍 then up here
Yes, so far, though I been sick on and off October through January and missed almost 90 days of Lupron and Xtandi so PSA has risen, were gonna wait 60 days then if need be make a change, though MO hasn't hinted as to what that might be. Year 4 held steady below 1...
It is indeed really lovely hand writing and the ingredients also sound great. I had a Chinese friend over for a CNY celebration and provided her with a typical British roast lunch complete with apple crumble! She didn't seem to mind but looking at that list I can see I have a lot to learn to be ready for next year!
Randy, I'm sooo sorry about your Aunt. What a wonderful newphew you were to her. My heartfelt condolences to you, family and her friends. Sending gentle hugs. Love and Light.
Mahalo nui loa my Sista for the Love and Support💙, I really hadn't had a lot of contact until the more recent several years when I'd go down to take her shopping, prior to that she'd take a lil rolling cart and walk over. I'm so glad that I was able to do that with her
The neighbor who called me had initially seen Betty out pushing that cart and befriended her. Because of that random or maybe Divine interaction, Betty was found and stabilized at Hoag Hospital.
Boy Aunt Betty looks like a sweetie in those pictures , anyway. Yayahahahaya my condolences buddy, so sorry.
Been eating some baby bok choy myself last few lunchtimes. Putting it in my bonito miso ramen. ( shiitake slices, green onions etc. ) checking out and learning to use artisanal Tonkotsu ramen broth too. Lip smacking QOL foodie fun.
I continue to like - enjoy your choices of theater , the Wiz is a classic.
Saw you are expecting up to 2” of snow down there this weekend, yikes …. Hope you dont get hammered buddy. I think it’s gonna drench Ventura too , can’t run over and escape …. Dang it. Maybe it won’t but getting back might be challenging. Looks like we’ll be expecting about an inch and a half rain here too.
She was nice and also stubborn too LoL. Ohhh Bonito miso ramen esp on a snowy day
Yea, crazy Snow storm on it's way, maybe two feet, Imma be stuck in my dungeon with Kuuipo, maybe I'll throw her into the snow bank, nah too mean. No Beach Therapy this weekend, I'm gonna paint a stone for Betty and place it in the Memorial Garden up in Ventura
Betty's Univ of Hawaii graduation, Dad and Mom beside her. My Mom far left
I’d heard a few inches over your way , on local TV … didn’t know 2’ …yayayayayayaya. You need my truck, 2’ of snow is playtime for my truck. They said the snow will be an extremely rare type of large flake super rare “ fluffy “ snow ….of a type rarely seen.
Made a switch to do QoLing posts as a distraction from the drecks of ADT SEs. Did previous posts about taking Betty shopping and thought HU peeps might be interested. Also,I blame the many pix that are taken on being Azn😜 LoL, it also serves as documentation of trips, events eg. Over 9yrs on PCa meds and the memory is iffy now, so I can go back in time
Remember we have all been change by our family and friends… I am glad you were able to be with your beloved aunt for her final days - a blessing in disguise
Mahalo nui loa Sista Mouse. You read my mind Sis, I love the song"For Good" and have sent it to many and the Circle is now complete as I have now received it for the very first time💙
"I've heard it said,
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn.
And we are led to those
Who help us most to grow if we let them.
And we help them in return.
Who can say if I've been changed for the better, but
Mahalo nui loa Bruddah, 89 is a long time and yes, she's my Mom's youngest sis. A story from when they were little in Hawaii. The four girls were at school and the admin there told them they had to choose English names cuz they couldn't use the Chinese ones😭. So that's how the Chun girls became Doris, Violet, Evelyn, and Betty😆
Loyola Marymount U 1979 graduation lmu.edu/ HS was Damien Memorial for Saint Damien, now coed 😆 damien.edu/
The Buick was parked outside a Wine Tasting room in town and it was so cool, I had to take a pic
Your the guy in the front row with the sunglasses and I'm the guy on the right side in the backrow. Just kidding. Are you wearing bib overalls in the picture?
Close, but no cigar, that's my Freshman year roomie, we parted after Year One as he had weed growing in closet under gro-lights. I'm the long haired freaky person 3rd from the Left first row. At Damien HS we had to wear a tie and have short hair, so I rebelled in College
"and the sign said long haired freaky people, need not apply"
She that song almost epitomizes it. We were leetle kids when that song came out. Wide variety in those days on the air waves. Motown, psychedelia, rock, blues rock, soul, folk
Mahalo nui loa Sista, Yes it did and it meant so much to me also. I became a Caregiver like so many of y'all on HU💙That's such a Beautiful act of Love.In 1995, I was back home in Honolulu and was there when he passed from pancreatic cancer at 67 😭. My next bday, when I do that Make a Wish hike, I'll be 67. This one's for you Dad
Much Aloha and Love to y'all
Kam Ohana
1st row my 5 kiddos
Behind the couch : younger bro and his Son
Yes, such a fun pic too, must be like in 1994 as my daughter was born 12/93. Looks like our house in CA. My younger bro, Dad and I were in Vegas - maybe this was a part of it and my Dad needed a suppository placed, younger bro told me to do it, and I replied that I worked in the Northern Hemisphere😜 .
Mahalo nui loa, Yes it was so very nice to be there for her. At first I thought that I would just help the neighbors take her in for care, I didn't even pack an overnight bag - LoL no toothbrush!
But, Betty was just done with Life and at 89, and being a recluse, I could see that :-(. It was so hard hearing her over and over saying that she just wanted to die, but she's at Peace and that's what she wanted💙
Mahalo again for your Lovely words - I'm tryna make dem Ripples
Awww Hey and Mahalo nui loa Sista, as you probs read she was just done, but I'm so grateful that I was able to be with her in her last days💙. Now the crazy part, cleaning out her place and I guess place the townhouse as a lease/rental - promised that I wouldn't sell it
That Snow Storm forecast was a bust hope that Y'all up there didn't get too slammed.
The brunt of the storm passed us by thankfully...we are saturated and have some sick livestock that need a break. Police chase Saturday a week back, and this person picks our deadend road to go 120 mph and plow through our fence and field and terrorize the animals. Can't outrun a helicopter. Anyway, glad your aunt didn't linger...
Sounds a bit like my aunt who passed a couple years ago...My Uncle wrote her up for a magazine article (long interesting story for another time), but point being "Marion T Moses, no one could mistake the T for tactful" lol
Thanks for the music posts and I always smile even on difficult days when I read through your posts/replies.
So sorry bout your Aunt, but so glad you got to spend time together before she passed. You are correct, definitely in a better place! 🕊️🙏❤️🕯️Thank you for sharing your pics and journeys, looks fun and food looks yummy!😁
